I caught a nice one at Pickwick last Saturday on a GYCB Swimming Senko, blue pearl with silver flakes (031). The bait was T-rigged with a 1/4 oz bullet weight and a 5/0 Gamakatsu Offset Round Bend hook. 8-)

No. The precentages are against you. 8-)

1) Many members consider the middle of the day primetime, Chris Fish prefers exactly noon! Most of my biggest bass, both smallmouth and largemouth were caught between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. The fish in my avatar came at about 11:30 and 1:00. 2) Sharp hooks and a quick set with drive a hook into a fish. The resistance from the fish will bury it deeper. Double setting can pull a hook out. I can't tell you how many times a landed fish is just barely hooked, but the bigger smallmouth in my avatar was skin-hooked on the outer lip. The amount of tissue holding the fish was microscopic! Over time, more fish will be lost double setting than will be landed verses a single, solid snap-set. 8-)

Hmm... Been there, done that... With all the options available, braid ranks 101 out of 100 for me. :

I agree. Overall, I would estimate one big bass every four hours. That includes both "better days" and skunks! My success has been fishing structure in deep, open water. 8-)

Too light for me. I prefer 1/2 oz and up, but I never throw less than 3/8 oz on a baitcaster. 8-)

Huh? Oil traded $79.39 forty-five minutes ago (noon EDT). Although oil, like all commodities, will continue to be VERY volatile, the $80 "floor" will soon be the top of the range. Currently $79.55 8-)

Opening down 689 at 7890 Dow Average May Be Poised to Fall to 7,000 By David Wilson Oct. 10 (Bloomberg) -- The Dow Jones Industrial Average would have to fall about 18 percent more to reach its ''trend line'' since August 1982, when the 1980s bull market started, according to Peter Boockvar, an equity strategist at Miller Tabak & Co. in New York. As the CHART OF THE DAY shows, the average is closer to the reading indicated by the trend line than it was in October 2002, when the last bear market hit bottom. Yesterday's close of 8,579.19 was about 23 percent higher than the level indicated by its past performance -- about 7,000, Boockvar wrote in an e-mail today. The Dow average's earlier low was about 35 percent above the trend line. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell to its post-August 1982 line ''almost to the penny'' after the 1990s Internet bubble burst, he wrote. The index plummeted 78 percent between March 2000 and October 2002, when it reached a six-year low. Since Sept. 29, the Dow industrials have fallen 23 percent. The retreat started with a 777.68-point plunge, the biggest one- day drop in history. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index would have to lose only about 6.5 percent more to hit its trend line, according to Boockvar. The reading suggested by the index's swings in the last 26 years is 850. All treble hook lures should be fished on a rod with a soft tip. However, tip firmness varies regardless of the Action rating. Generally, I would recommend 6 1/2' or 7' Medium power/ Moderate Action. A specific rod is the St. Croix Avid AVC70MM. I fish topwater and jerkbaits with an Avid AC66MF which has a soft tip. Hmm... There use to be "gas wars" with price competition inside the .9 cent tag! The lowest price I ever remember paying was 14.5 cents, but the "going price" at the time was 16.9 cents! 8-)
