  1. Gasoline prices at the retail level will continue to fall with oil trading around $70. The oil glut is putting pressure on prices. This entire period of excessive cost is difficult to explain, but it has never been about supply and demand. The huge worldwide inventories of oil available for immediate deliver has caused OPEC to call an emergency meeting in a few days. Their attempt to keep prices high can only be achieved by reducing production. Although we continue to trade in the $60-$80 range I suggested several months ago, the lows will probably be tested over the next few months. OPEC's concern is breaking below $50 a barrel and I hope we get there! $71.57 currently 8-)
  2. Set your drag at 25-30% of the breaking strength of the line as long as it is within the specifications of the rod. For example, with 12 lb test line you would set the drag at 3-4 lbs. To measure the weight, put free weight in a plastic grocery bag and tie the bag to your line. GENTLY lift the bag off the ground and set your drag accordingly. This can also be done with a direct tie to a scale. I think you will find that 3 lbs is about all you will want, depending on your rod and the stress you can see and feel. 8-)
  3. Thanks Muddy...Some serious advice on addressing the problem. 8-)
  4. Maybe focus on structure in deeper water and fish a jig: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1224532405 8-)
  5. Unfortunately the Dick's in Memphis has a pitiful fishing department and the Yamamoto selection is tiny: 5" Senkos and Swimming Senkos only. Nothing for me, just a wasted trip. I will never shop there again. p.s. They were not on sale, either!
  6. My favorite class of lures are jerkbaits. Of the ones I use, I would rank them in this order: #1 All Pointers #2 Rapala X-Rap #3 Rapala Husky Jerk The Smithwick Rogue has been my #1 producer over the years, but they are not comparable to the three I listed. I still have a substantial collection that I never fish anymore. 8-)
  7. Man, nothin' to talk about...Geez... :-X

  13. Regardless of the brand, I recommend 7' MF spinning rod with a firm tip. My dedicated rig for all soft plastics is a St. Croix Legend Elite ES70MF/ Shimano Stella 2500FB and Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6. 8-)
  14. Although my general preference is for 7' rods, my Avid AC66MF is just about perfect for working topwater and jerkbaits. 8-)
  15. We're still paying for "oil in the pipeline". Funny how prices go up immediately, but are slow to reprice down... >
  16. I think the game speaks for itself...Texas manhandled Missouri. The score barely reflects the whopping the Longhorns put on the Tigers.

  20. You don't have to use any treatment, but KVD Line & Lure Conditioner will make all lines perform better. I really like this product and use it exclusively on my line. However, you will find the Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft manageable and user friendly without conditioner. 8-)
