Whats YALL's favorite Grubs?
5 1/2" GYCB Single Tail Grub. Clear with silver flakes or Smoke. The presentation is a live baitfish. I fish them on a 1/8 oz Gamakatsu jig head. 8-)

A loaded hypothetical question
I'm glad your set-up works well for you, but I have found that line diameter and visibility has a tremendous effect on my smallmouth success. In clear water I fish original Yo-Zuri Hybrid #4, otherwise #6 Ultra Soft. The difference in these lines vs. 8 lb Hybrid are significant for me. 8-)

soft bait rod
Well, after receiving a lot of good advice, you couldn't have picked a worse rod for soft plastics. :

Best length for top water?
Although I generally prefer 7' rods, working topwater and jerkbaits is much easier with 6 1/2' gear. I fish a St. Croix Avid AC66MF with a soft tip. I consider this an "all-around" rod for treble hook lures. 8-)
