  1. Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft is a bonded (not coated) fluorocarbon/ nylon copolymer. You will find it performs very well for all applications and especially topwater...the line floats! 8-)
  2. Keep an eye on the BassResource.com "Flea Market". There are great deals that pop up occasionally. 8-)
  3. Nope. In the Mid-South every puddle has potential. No one ever asks "What's ya doin'?" 8-)
  4. ES70MF I also have the EC70MHF which I consider too heavy (stiff) for lighter lures and baits. The ES70MF is my dedicated soft plastics rig, but could be used for everything else. 8-)
  5. Welcome aboard! We have a few swimbait experts on this board. I'm sure a few will stop by with a suggestion or two. 8-)
  6. Yep, six pages and still running strong! 8-)
  7. I also like black & blue. My only other color is forest green with black flakes. Clear, stained or dark water, my jigs are still the same. 8-)
  8. People who use braid love it, the rest of us hate the stuff. However, I can assure you that none of us "non-users" ever consider the reason to be giving the fish any advantage. I'm totally convinced that I get more bites on other lines than I would with braid when I'm using a finesse presentation. For "moving" presentations this may not be an issue, but I still don't fish braid. 8-)
  9. I do this but I don't wait until right before I leave to do it. I usually do it the night before a trip and I attach the lures or terminal tackle with which I plan to begin my day. These can change when I get to the lake, but this usually saves me time to start with. So I still run into the issue of lures coming loose from the hook keeper. After attaching the lures I turn the drag down, but not all the way so they won't come loose. Okay, misunderstood. I do the same thing and just loosen the drag, but not so much that it causes problems. I think the point to be made is to loosen the drag completely for extended storage. 8-)
  10. Why is Mr. Yo-Zuri asking a question about Gamma? Well, I'm not totally stuck-in-the-mud and I do experiment with different lines. I tried the Gamma Florocarbon #8 last year and found it to be unfishable on spinning tackle, but I hadn't really given the copolymer a fair test. The line I was given was #10 which doesn't really match up for me with any equipment. Although I have used about 100 yards as add-on, the line is too thin for my taste. It seems to perform nicely with very little, almost no memory and the green is nearly invisible in stained water. Anyhow, I am asking for reviews of #12 or maybe higher. Specifically, how does the line actually test? I could not find this information on the website. Second, please comment on abrasion resistance. Anything else you can note would be appreciated. 8-)
  11. Welcome aboard! Read through the pages in this section, there are probably fifty pages of lure suggestions. Two of the "standards" are grubs and tubes, but many other lures will work as well or better, depending on the situation. While you are researching lures, pay close attention to suggestions on where to fish. Location is more important than any other variable, current is #2 and goes hand-in-hand with where you need to be fishing. 8-)
  12. I like a new beer now and then. Rolling Rock is one I've been drinking lately. Still, the King of Beers rules the roost. 8-)
  13. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  14. Man, that's a shame you couldn't weigh that bass. She could be well over 10 lbs, but that is such an important number to most guys, it's really hard to say without a scale. Anyhow, CONGRATULATIONS! She's a beauty. 8-)
  15. Nope. I don't agree. It's cadence (length of pause) and true suspension that distinguishes a jerkbait. Most strikes (all strikes) are on the pause whether you recognize it or not. Ripping a X-Rap is a little different story, it's the action that usually triggers that strike. 8-)
  16. Yep... Regardless of the argument about "catching", high quality gear makes the "fishing" more fun. 8-)
  17. Well, if you are going to leave your lures tied up, I don't think it makes any difference anyhow... That is not the best way to maintain equipment. I would suggest cutting off the lure, reeling down and cutting off 5-10' of line to start the new day. For me, re-tying is mandatory. 8-)
  18. Not with Pointers, but when bass are very aggressive, this technique will work well with the X-Rap. Rapala likes to distinguish the lure as a "slash bait" which it does (slashes) when worked fast. I had particularly good luck on the White River fishing for German brown trout fishing a very fast pace. When the fish are hot, I think ripping will work. 8-)
  19. Welcome aboard! Refer to FAQs. We have extensive discussions of the KickTail. Bottom line: Steer clear. 8-)
  20. Simple answer: In low light, fish topwater or high in the water column with shallow running crankbaits, jerkbaits or spinnerbaits. Throw a Rat-L-Trap to see if the fish are focused primarily on baitfish. Otherwise, fish the bottom with soft plastics. 8-)
  21. Welcome aboard! Here's your answer: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137 Good luck! 8-)
  22. That's great, congratulations! 8-)
  23. This is a "sticky" in the upper portion of page 1, this section: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1151590913 Good luck! 8-)
