  1. Well, for guys that don't fish regularly, many are looking for something that lasts and they don't have to worry about breaking. Have you seen the commercial where the wife beats the heck out of the Ugly Stick before she puts in in the trash compactor? Man, that's a great commercial even if it doesn't address any of the qualities most of us are looking for. The Ugly Stick is tough! 8-)
  2. Great brown fish! That's exactly what I was asking about. Good luck on your next outing, I can hardly wait to see some new pics. 8-)
  3. For spinning reels I recommend Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test). If your drag is set properly, this line is strong enough to handle any freshwater fish. I have never been broken off fishing this line. 8-)
  4. WOW! Sounds like these guys have a shot at the B.A.S.S. Classic. :
  5. I see most of it, nice fish! 8-)
  6. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  7. It depends on your pricing point, but the Symetre is a fine reel. For twice the price, the new Stradic 1000FI or 2500FI would be nice. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0049276122386a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=stradic&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=stradic&noImage=0 8-)

    Welcome aboard! 8-)
  9. If you are not using an offset worm hook, try that. I generally fish a 4/0 EWG Gamakatsu Offset Worm Hook when fishing soft plastics. I haved no problem with slippage. 8-)
  10. ;D ;D ;D ;D CONGRATULATIONS! ;D ;D ;D ;D 8-)
  11. Blanks vary among manufactures, so power ratings are not the same. I generally like "Medium Power" in a spinning rod, but there can be a fine line between M amd MH. View the rating as "approximate" and then judge for yourself. 8-)
  12. Nice fish, buddy. I just saw this thread or I would have been in earlier, but you don't need my help. Good job with your response, those who have seen/ read previous posts understand the program. Great fish! Now, how 'bout another! 8-)
  13. DUDE! Too cool. Great job Mr. Low Budget Hooker!
  14. That is my #1 suggestion, too. This is a great book to get started with. If you target smallmouth, In-Fisherman: Smallmouth. Both books are outstanding and available in paperback. 8-)
  15. 1. Move the bait forward 6-12" 2. Move down the bank to new water 3. Technically a Texas Rig (T-rig) involves a weight, but "T-rigged, weightless" has become a common term. The bait is hooked up the same, but without a weight. 8-)
  16. Well, with a little patience you might be able to find a deal on a G. Loomis IMX MBR844C. The MSRP is above your pricing point, but you might find one here in our Flea Market or on e-bay. If I only had one rod, this is the one. Otherwise, I am a big fan of the St Croix Avid series. The AC70MHF might be the ticket: http://www.reedssports.com/Category/main.taf?cat=2286 8-)
  17. Woo-Hoo! Nice post, great story and pic! That's a fine bass, too. 8-)
  18. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  19. Man, "break-off" reports are my #1 pet peeve. Sorry to here about that, but you KNOW it shouldn't happen. Anyhow...it's a long season and I'm looking forward to the post on your next BIG WIN! 8-)
  20. Woo-Hoo! I'm glad it worked for you, but it won't be your last! 8-)
  21. Deep breath... C'mon guys, Bill is a great guy and this isn't an attack, just an observation.
  22. As the Forum has grown, updates and improvements have been made. When you have a suggestion, please send us a PM. 8-)
  23. Welcome aboard! That's what I'm talkin' 'bout! She's a beauty. 8-)
  24. Sorry... You are absolutely right. I'm going to bed now...
