  1. If you're talking about the "biggest" largemouth bass, how can anyone argue a case for any state other than Kalifornia? Numbers? Now that might be debatable. If smallmouth is your game, Ohio or more generally, Lake Erie is King for numbers and good size. If it's "biggest" smallmouth bass, Tenessee rules, but Alabama's portion of the Tennessee River is a close second and could claim the next World Record. 8-)
  2. Nice fish, great pic! 8-)
  3. Hey Supermat, We have had several threads running lately on BIG BASS and I was wondering why you hadn't posted...Now we know, you're out catchin' 'em! Great post, Supermat fish and pics! 8-)
  4. Welcome aboard! We have a thread currently running at the bottom of this page, "Who here fishes from the bank", that addresses pond fishing: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1206988208 8-)
  5. If you could tie the tail of a smallmouth to the tail of a largemouth, the largemouth would drown and be dragged around the lake. That's like comparing a Volkswagon Beetle to a Mack Truck! 8-)
  6. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  7. Welcome aboard! Browse through the pages in this section and read those you find interesting. 8-)
  8. Start with it close to "MAX" and adjust down when you are experimenting on the water.
  9. Welcome aboard! I'm sure someone will be along later to offer advice. 8-)
  10. Good luck! I hope you catch some big ole good'uns or good ole big'uns! 8-)
  11. Some time ago there were posts stating that "any silicone spray would do" and would be significantly cheaper than Reel Magic or KVD Line & Lure. Well, the problem is that the silicone sprays smell like a petroleum product and the smell lasts a loooooooong time! KVD Line Conditioner is a sponsor and has developed a unique formula that works very well. The conditioner actually bonds with the line. Look into this, I think you will be impressed. http://www.lineandlure.com/moreinfo.php BTW, If you buy the product, go ahead and spray your filler spools. When adding new line, either run it through a cloth sprayed with KVD or spray the conditioner on periodically (10 turns). KVD Line & Lure should be used before fishing, ideally the night before so there is time for the bonding to set-up. I like it, you will, too! 8-)
  12. At one time the World Record 2 lb Line Record was recorded on Norfork Lake in north central Arkansas: 32 lbs. 8-)
  13. Tom Redington has a new Feature Article up on our Home Page: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/spring-bass.html 8-)
  14. Sometimes the bass are more "bottom related", but at other times they seem more interested in moving lures at other levels in the water column. I would suggest mixing in other presentations: jerkbaits, Rat-L-Traps, spinnerbaits and maybe topwater. 8-)
  15. I have a G.Loomis PR844S which might be my favorite piece of equipment, but it is not an all-around rod. The tip is too soft for many applications. For the most part, this is my smallmouth rod and used primarily for fishing live shiners on a split shot rig. 8-) From the Loomis catalog: "Our popping rods were originally designed for casting live bait (mainly shrimp), under a popping cork ..., but freshwater anglers have found umpteen uses for them as well". I have been thinking about getting a casting version of this rod for inshore trout and redfish. The rod can be used for any "moving" lure, fishing the GYCB Kreature like a spinnerbait for example. The tip is too soft for typical soft plastic and jig presentations. However, once the tip is loaded, this is a very powerful rod! The smallmouth in my avatar were boated using the PR844S. 8-)
  16. Well now... Thanks for the review. Anyone considering this reel has been given fair warning. :-X

  19. I doubt you will find a specific pattern, the fish are probably scattered. However, structure, current breaks and depth changes always have potential. 8-)
  20. This might help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1189609782 8-)
  21. No problemo. I would suggest treating the line with KVD Line Treatment and trolling the line the first time out. Then you effectively "start fresh". 8-)
