  1. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  2. Maybe it's too early for a spinnerbait bite in your neck of the woods, but once it warms up this is a lure that can be fished through a lot of trouble! Another thought is fishing a GYCB Kreature, weightless and weedless through the timber: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180909581 8-)
  3. Man, what a sight. I guess these fish don't "nest". Their courtship is an orgy at and near the surface. The fish were stacked along a gravel bar that we were fishing Saturday on the Tennessee River. We only picked up one smallmouth (5-9), but our three man total for "fish" caught probably was in the 200-300 lb range! Our fish included white bass and a 6+ lb hybrid, but the big fish (10-15 lbs) were all buffalo. These fat girls were especially fun on Medium Power spinning rods and #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. Guys, I'm telling you that's one heck of a fight! 8-)
  4. Soft plastics, weightless & weedless. Specifically, Senko and Fat Ika. I think a spinnerbait is another option. Generally, I would stay away from trble hooks, without a boat they have a tendency of finding a new home. :
  5. Bu "snagging" do you mean backlash? You need to work with your brakes and cast control, the line isn't the problem. Tighten the brake down most of the way, then lossen it as you become more proficient. It takes practice, but it will come to you. BTW, Welcome aboard! 8-)
  6. Whoa! LBH was simply posting a helpful suggestion. No one on this board wants to see pictures of dead fish. He and I both like to eat some, fish, but we have a sincere appreciation of responsible harvesting.
  7. Welcome aboard! This might help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137 8-)
  8. Hey buddy, It was really nice to see you back here. Sorry to hear about your health issues. Post when you can. Just wishing you good fishing! -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior 8-)
  9. Salute! 8-)
  10. Now, or at some point in the very near future would be a great time to buy a house. In addition to the investment considerations, a house is a "home". 8-)
  11. Spinning gear: #6 (11.9 lb test) Baitcasting tackle: #12 (19.5) 8-)
  12. I think I'll listen to David Green and stick with the Reel Mechanic's advise. If he says Hot Sauce sucks, that's good enough for me. David services my reels (cleaning lubrication and internal grease) and for exterior lubrication, I use his oil only. 8-)
  13. Nice report. It sounds like you have a match made in heaven. Congratulations! 8-)
  14. I used to fish P-line until I discoverd Yo-Zuri Hybrid and later, Hybrid Ultra Soft. The Hybrid is just as tough as P-Line (both are copolymers), but without the memory. In use, Ultra Soft has virtually no memory which is an attribute that is very important to me. Spinning tackle: #6 (11.9 lb test) Hybrid Ultra Soft Baitcasting gear: #12 (19.5 lb test) 8-)
  15. I use a few brands based on a specific recommendation, but for the most part I fish Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits. I like the texture (soft), the flavor (salty) and the fact that they have no remnant odor (petroleum products). The quality of the baits and their overall bass catching performance has served me well for more than a decade. :

  18. The Loch Ness Monster! :o
  19. Well, a thread can run forever if it doesn't get nasty! 8-)
  20. Or probably anywhere else but Texas... :
  21. Kentucky? It's the last reservoir on the Tennessee River before emptying into the Ohio River. 8-)
  22. Kentucky Lake is a DONE DEAL. Make your plans now! 2009...NO EXCUSES! 8-)
