  1. Good point. Put 3 lbs of weight in a plastic grocery bag and tie it to your line. GENTLY lift the bag. If you are not comfortable with the stress this puts on your rod, back the weight up to 2 1/2 lbs and try it again. I find that 3 lbs is about right on my Medium Power rods, but equipment varies. 8-)
  2. Thanks Mike, I guess you have been around the block a time or two. I (we) appreciate your lighthearted response. Keep up the good work! -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator 8-)
  3. Both the Cutting Point and XPoint hooks have a "broadhead" point which I believe are chemically sharpened. Filing will destroy the physical integrity of the point. 8-)
  4. The new Stradic 2500FI was awarded ICAST "Best of Class". This is a completely remodeled reel which incorporates many features previously found only in the Stella. Strong, Smooth, Silent and Reliant is the Shimano motto. I suspect this reel will become an all-time favorite, in line with previous models. 8-)
  5. Well, I don't have access to any actual numbers, but I suspect the biggest leap in sales has been Abu Garcia, not Daiwa. The Revo(lution) is really several completely different reels marketed under the "Revo" umbrella. The question remains, How will they hold up over time? 8-)
  6. I never sharpen hooks. Single hooks made by Owner, Gamakatsu and XPoint cannot be sharpened and don't need to be! Otherwise, I replace treble hooks with Gammies or VMC. 8-)
  7. Hi

    Welcome aboard! 8-)
  8. Dude! You're 16 years old. This might not be the best rod and you might not be an expert, yet. 8-)
  9. Dude! This is your third endorsement. You are 16 years old. Give it a rest. You might not have given them all a try.
  10. Why? Wait until the ice melts. p.s. "Taking" nice smallmouth through the ice is not a good thing. 8-)
  11. Do this at the beginning so that it is burried deep. I always start with 10-15 wraps on the left-hand side. (To the left and out to the middle and then back, not all bunched up on the rim). 8-)
  12. Excellent point. Free throw shooting will be the key. 8-)
  13. Hmm... I guess I don't understand. Why would anyone move just because someone else is in a tournament?
  14. Wow! That surprises me. The 12-14 came from Mashapaug Lake. Is that open to the public?
  15. Yeah, I asked this (in context) on another thread and didn't get an answer. I am really just curious, as a casual observation they seemed the same, just different branding. Thanks for the reply!
  16. Here is a thread with some ideas: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1187574843 8-)
  17. Memphis played Texas last weekend, and won!
  18. I have never had a jig last long enough to rust. :
  19. Nice fish, nice pics! 8-)
  20. Just curious, doesn't anyone know the difference between these two lines?
  21. A permit to carry does NOT give you ANY law enforcement powers. Deadly force is authorized in MOST states ONLY in cases where the loss of life or bodily harm is an imminent threat. Generally, this does NOT include protecting property, but that varies from state to state. Most importantly, a gun should NEVER be drawn unless you intend to use it. In the event the gun is fired, the shot should always be intended to kill. If one shot is fired, I would suggest following that with two more.
