  1. No, but at times it really helps. Also, "Moderate Action" is not wimpy, that better describes "Slow Action" which can include a complete parabolic bend (Ugly Stick). If you use a rod with "Fast Action" a stretchy line (Trilene XL) will help cushion the pull. The point here is that treble hooks have a tendency to pull out because, often, they are not burried deep. 8-)
  2. I don't use rattles with soft plastic or jigs. 8-)
  3. Unless people preface a description with "power rating", they are always taking about "power" not "action". Heavy Action = Heavy Power/ Fast Action, generally. Medium Action = Medium Power/ Fast Action. If they were really talking about "Medium Action" it is described as "Moderate Action". Power: XH, H, MH, M, ML & L Action: Extra Fast, Fast, Moderate & Slow 8-)
  4. Those are fine looking weapons. You can't go wrong with Kimber. 8-)
  5. Mine hasn't changed: Baitcasting: Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 (19.5 lb test) Spinning: Ultra Soft #6 (.010 diameter, 11.9 lb test) 8-)
  6. Sometimes statements come across sounding harsh on the internet. I certainly did not mean to disparage you or the comments you made. I make long casts parallel to the shore and fish forward, so my approach or color ensemble doesn't come into play. However, I am surprised people catch fish without a Senko or a Shimano... J/K...Trying to lighten up the thread a little. 8-)
  7. You will have to go to Cabela's for the Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft, BPS does not carry the line. Ultra Soft is much more user friendly. In use, this line has virtually no memory, but it is just as tough and strong as the original formula. 8-)
  8. You might still find the St. Croix Avid on sale for around $100. I have an Avid AC70MM which I highly recommend. 8-)
  9. Well, to begin with, Guntersville had everyone challenged during the Roadtrip. However, several guys did very well! The challenge seemed to be (1) finding the fish and (2) selecting a lure they would bite. I'll let the winners talk about what they did right. For those like me, we stayed with the pattern and lure (Rat-L-Trap) that we were told should work. Our (my) success was limited.
  10. Every team has to bring on their A Game to win. For Memphis that means continuing to make free throws as they did against Texas. GO TIGERS! 8-)
  11. You're on a roll, keep it up! 8-)
  12. Take a look at the Pro Carry II http://www.kimberamerica.com/pistols/compactprocarry/ 8-)

  14. There is an entire section on wacky rigging within the Senko FAQ section at the top of the page. Here you go: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1121527643 8-)
  15. As Mike has already pointed out, the Roadtrip is not expensive and you don't need lots of gear. If you can afford "the time", you can afford the trip! 8-)
  16. We have several Hawg Hunters on board, so I hope they all reply. As an "outsider" I will simply share my observation of how these guys fish: To consistantly catch big bass, they must be your target and your passion. Our guys are not "lucky", they fish for monsters where the fat girls live. Without exception, only double digits count! 8-)
  17. No one will be left behind. We will have plenty of boats and a seat for everyone! p.s. The trip is next April. I'm sure you will be able to arrange a shared ride to Kentucky Lake by then. :
  18. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  19. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  20. Yep, this is a kinda fun thread. I can just picture myself throwing an original Floating Repala into the wind with a 7' Heavy Power baitcaster and then follow up with a 5" senko on the same rod... That dog don't hunt! 8-)
  21. My #1 petpeeve... There is no reason your line should break. Regardless of the brand, find something that works. Set your drag properly, retie often and check for nicks or frays. >
  22. Welcome aboard! This might help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141187546 8-)
  23. I don't do any of that. The fish don't care what you look like. :
