  1. "Quality" may be in the eye of the beholder. I gave my dad a Garcia, my partner carries a couple of Omega when he guides and I have fished with both. I don't notice any improvement over the 33. Spincast is a technology that has reached a dead end. The manufactures have not made any effort to advance this type of reel.
  2. Reported yesterday by Brit Hume, Washington D.C. Managing Editor of Fox News. His column is a regular feature, "Special Report w/ Brit Hume".
  3. Another beauty! 8-)
  4. ;D ;D EXCELLENT! ;D ;D 8-)
  5. It's unlikely any of those guys are fishing a Fat Ika. 8-)
  6. I'm not a "Hater", but I have never been a big fan. On the otherhand, I REALLY like Tom Brady and find myself rooting for New England often. I would like to see the Patriots score 100 points against the Jets and have better weekends against both Miami and the Giants! So, good luck to you guys, but don't be too surprized if the rest of the country isn't sporting a Patriots hat or even a Red Socks cap for that matter. Easy to hate, hard to love.
  7. Well, before getting all over Petrino, lets not forget what a dog pooh-pooh franchise the Falcons have been. After taking Atlanta to the Super Bowl for the first and only time, Dan Reeves was also named "Coach of The Year" before being uncerimonisly dumped after 13 games in the 2003 season.
  8. This article kind of sums up why the rest of the country might be "Haters": http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7553930
  9. More to ponder: We are STILL in the "ice age". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_Age
  10. I had a little luck below the Wilson Dam a few weeks ago, but nothing special. I usually fish below Pickwick Dam, but the TVA release schedule has really been tough on weekend anglers. You have to have current or you might as well stay home.
  11. I rarely respool completely, but add line as needed. I like 100 yards of relatively fresh line and will replace that entire amount when I can feel the connecting knot buried in the spool. Yo-Zuri Hybrid, Ultra Soft, most copolymers, fluorocarbon and braid never get "old". Monofilaments are effected by ultraviolet light and water absorption and will deteriorate over time. However, in a controlled environment, mono will last indefinitely, too. I add line or respool by hand. Bulk spools will save you money. I sometimes buy 600 or 1000 yard spools, but have recently purchased a 1 lb spool of #15 Yo-Zuri Hybrid which is 3000 yards. This should last awhile! 8-)
  12. The link does not work.
  13. I am sorry to hear of your loss.
  14. Hey fourbizzle! Great pics! I think Fish Chris has mentioned a Hud once or twice, too. :
  15. Nope. 8's are not "common", but Pickwick produces too many for 8 something to be a big deal. Don't get me wrong, 8 is very special to me, but my partner's 10 (November, 2005) was REALLY something! More than likely, the next World Record Smallmouth will be caught on the Tennessee River. p.s. Until California produces a few 10's, you guys aren't really in the hunt. Lake Erie is producing huge numbers of VERY nice smallmouth, but until some 10's are reported, the same goes for that region, too.
  16. Next time try the X-Rap. When the browns are actively feeding, fast action is always better than finesse. The original floating Rapala or Countdown are a couple of other lures to consider.
  17. $129.99 http://www.deloscustomtackleshack.com/reels/shimanocurado.html
  18. Hey Raul! Here's an idea: Why don't you order a bunch of stuff and have it sent to our resort at Guntersville. You can pick it up there and save the shipping and tax. That gives you another reason to attend the outing!
  19. Nice fish. I too use a 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action rod saddled with a 2500 series Shimano as my main soft plastics rig. It's "Medium", not light and certainly not ultra light. In addition to a few brown and green bass, this outfit handles 20+ lb stripers, cats, buffalo and drum. Your rig might not be exactly the right one for big baits, heavy or deep diving lures and some other techniques, but it can handle any size bass when the conditions are favorable.
  20. Boatless clarified his question: So, with that criteria, the options are many. I suspect all of our member guides generally meet this expectation. George: Florida Randall: Georgia Tom: Texas Do we have a guide in California?
  21. I don't have any other suggestions. If that doesn't work, throw it away and get something else.
  22. Well, it seems to me that rainbows bite all the time, but the big German brown trout feed almost exclusively at night. Two summers ago I had a big night on the White River in north central Arkansas fishing a white X-Rap.
  23. Hmm... Most states mandate attendance in a Hunter's Safety Program with an age requirement of 9 or 10. Some states (AR & TN) allow younger participation under the DIRECT supervision of a licensed adult. I think 5 is too young to be allowed to use a firearm, but I'm POSITIVE 2 is too young!
  24. The fellow you describe is the same fellow I fished with in my one and only club tournament! I would NEVER consider doing that again.
