So I tried Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft..
Ultra Soft will form coils from being stored on the reel spool, but after a few casts the memory should disappear completely. However, although I would make the general statement that Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft are NOT affected by cold weather, the water I fish never actually freezes. So, that's news to me.

Lures for x-mas
If this turns into a religious "discussion" I will delete the quoted post AND mine, but here is a brief history on the origin of X-mas: http://www.cresourcei.org/symbols/xmasorigin.html Merry Christmas! Mattlures "Three Pack" Baby Bass special would make a nice present.

Here's a tip: After you announce that "this will be the last cast," be quite. The fish will think you're gone! :

What line for an "all-around" casting setup?
C'mon guys! There must be a few more names that haven't been mentioned! : Well, here's one more: If cost is not important to you, Sunline Defier is an outstanding line.

What Happen To Parity?
I don't recall a year when there were so many great teams and so many awful squads. Unless they play each other, The Boys, Colts, Pats and Packers dominate. (Seattle plays in "their own" conference and the AFC West has taken the year off). So, after years of mediocracy, this year it seems "The Battle Of The Haves And Have-Nots". Except for regional alegence, does anyone think Seattle or Tampa Bay are really in the hunt for the championship? San Diego, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay? It looks to me like the hands are dealt and it all comes down to the best team on a given day during the play-offs. That said, none of the top dogs are a lock to win it all, but they are all VERY capable.

Will the Jets beat the Patriots?
The Patriots could sit all the starters on offense and defense and still hammer the Jets.....and Miami too. They may need a couple of starters in the Giants game but not many. I predict a 48-13 pounding of the Jets. How do the jets score 13 points? Maybe, but it won't be pretty unless you're a New England fan.
-
Will the Steelers beat the Patriots?
I don't think the game will be that close! : Moss lets one get through his hands that he catches 99% of the time, two short field goals that "should have" resulted in touchdowns...Maybe two other opportunities...The game was boring and much more one-sided than the score indicated.

St.Croix es70mf
I use this rod exclusively for soft plastics. The rod performs best with weights of 1/2 oz and less. The heaviest bait I throw on this rig is a 7" Senko. I don't know the exact weight, but the Senko is a little too heavy in my opinion or at least as heavy as I want to go with this rod. I fish Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test).

Large Swim Baits for the Midwest
I think Mattlures Baby Bass wil be killer on Bull Shoals.

Swimbaits
I have not had any luck on the Tennessee River with the Mattlures Baby Bass or the new Shad, but I am going to continue using them on occasion. The Baby Bass has been very productive targeting largemouth on my local ponds, but I have yet to catch a fish on the new Mattlures Shad.

Pflueger Trion Help
Don't open the side plate in a boat. After setting the brakes so they are comfortable for you, they rarely (never) need adjustment. I check them after the reels have been serviced and that's all.

Different slang names for big bass :-)
I like the way Fish Chris refers to his biggin's as DDs. That puts a smile on my face. I guesss it reminds me of "other things" I like. :

St.Croix 7ft med/heavy mod tip
David, I'm sure you are right. It's an interesting discussion to deal with the minute details that make a difference to us.
-
St.Croix 7ft med/heavy mod tip
David, You are right, but I was expecting the St. Croix EC70MHF to have the same tip firmness as the MBR844C. I have a ES70MF which is my main soft plastics rod and the tip "seems" stiffer than the new rod. I am NOT disappointed in the EC70MHF because the rod characteristics fit the application I bought it for perfectly, I was just expecting a very firm tip. p.s. The EC70MHF has a lure rating of 3/8 oz - 1 oz which is another reason I thought the tips would be comparable.

St.Croix 7ft med/heavy mod tip
The last digit is the "power rating". The MBR series does offer a "5", so the MBR844 is not the heaviest in this class: http://products.gloomis.com/gl/products/family.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302032505&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181201&bmUID=1197063189988
