Reel type for technique
Personal preference, nothing more. For me it's like this: Power fishing = Baitcasting gear Finesse baits = Spinning tackle

Shimano Coriolis 100
Yeah Kent, I know it, looks kool but got lotz of plastik and the magnetic braking is so-so, besides that, just a little dirt on the external adjustment and the push lever dial locks up when it grinds against the sideplate. The Procaster PR100 is a better reel. I am SURE you are right. I bought the Coriolis back when I thought all I needed for striper fishing (drifting) was line storage since I would not be casting with the reel- WRONG! The reel was not strong enough to fish...Period!

Torre and NYYankees Split
Well, as a "Trying To Be A Baseball Fan", this just brings up another reason NOT to care about professional baseball! In other sports, like NFL Football, the teams share revenues, kinda have salary caps and basically compete on a financially flat playing field. Football Cities cannot 'buy a championship". I suppose the Florida Marlins were the best example of this, away from New York, but the entire set-up just SUCKS!

Long lost Tuna pic found!!!
So, what did that tuna weigh?

Three Inch Sluggo on Light Line
Sometimes. Just keep working the bait, other fish notice the strike and may try to steal it from the first fish. I work the Slug-Go with short twitches trying to duplicate the action of feeding minnows.

Big time mistake..........stupid stupid stupid
Regarding knots: I tie a Palomar Knot about 99% of the time, but I enjoy tying knots and will use others occasionally. If you want to learn a new knot, use a small diameter cotton rope so you can see EXACTLY what you are doing. Once you "see it" being tied, you will find it much easier and probably will not forget how to properly tie it next time. Suggestions: Uni Knot, Trilene Knot, Improved Clinch Knot and San Diego Jam. http://www.animatedknots.com/knotlist.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com San Diego Jam Knot: http://www.proknot.com/Fishing_Knots/San_Diego_Jam_Knot/san_diego_jam_knot.html

Big time mistake..........stupid stupid stupid
Set your drag properly, initially WITH A SCALE. Check your drag occasionally and EVERYTIME when you start your day, but NEVER when fighting a fish. When fighting a fish you should ALWAYS be moving the fish to you unless the fish is running. NEVER reel when your drag is releasing and NEVER adjust your drag! Maintain pressure at all times and if the fish is moving into timber or cover, apply more pressure by lifting your rod tip higher. Force the fish to fight the rod. Reel when you can, let the fish run when it wants to. Don't get in a hurry, this is what you came for!

Three Inch Sluggo on Light Line
Welcome aboard! Don't set the hook until you feel the weight of the fish. Bass will often slap a Slug-Go. I think that's what was happening.

Long lost Tuna pic found!!!
Man, if I had that option I think I might leave the little green and brown fish alone! I guessing...well...definitely over 6 lbs. 8-)

Carrot Stick
Robert already has "a few" rods. I'm not knocking the Carrot Stick, but some might view it as a "novelty rod". If you are still looking for your second or third technique specific rod, there might be better options. If you already have a couple of dozen, then something exotic might be interesting.

grubs with the best action
I don't know why you want to fish little bitty grubs, but the GYCB 3" Single Tail are small and mostly "tail". I think they are THE BOMB!

Turnings softbaits into Jig Trailers
Huh? We have another thread running, "Big Swimbaits", that weigh 8 ounces.

Big time mistake..........stupid stupid stupid
Knots: "If it ain't perfect, it ain't good enough"

It's almost prime time!
Prime time is the "best time". In the Mid South the best time to catch smallmouth bass is when the water cools down which is generally sometime in October lasting through mid March.

Sorry LBH
Hmm... Based on the pics and videos I have seen, it doesn't look "that tough". LBH, are you photographing in Connecticut? 8-)

Pretty good day
Well, IF you EVER catch a decent fish, lets see the 2X4. :

Shimano Coriolis 100
Raul, This is the $60 reel he is talking about: http://www.***.com/descpageRLCSHIMANO-SHCOR.html

Rod action and casting
The "ACTION" also impacts casting distance. To the extent that a rod is "fully loaded" the leverage is significantly increased.

Line size on spinning reel question.

Shimano Stradic Problems???
Hmm... "Just for the record" I AM SAYING Shimano products are outstanding. EVERY Shimano reel I have EVER owned is still being used. My 1995-96 Symetres and 1997-98 Stradics are BETTER reels today than the day I took them out of the box. I have NEVER had an issue with these reels and the men I fish with use Shimanos EXCLUSIVELY, too. I currently own Stella and Sustain spinning reels. Baitcasters include (2) CTE200GT, Calais 200, Metanium and Chronach. I'm not considering changing brands anytime soon. I am glad everyone that fishes something else is happy with their equipment, but if you are asking for a recommendation I have only one: SHIMANO: Strong, smooth, silent and reliant.

Smallie's can FIGHT!!! no exxageration
Hmm... I fish #4 & #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft.

Two questions about Record sized bass.
I am Mr. Catch & Release... If it's a record fish, not a "personal best", I would have no problem (no question) about keeping the fish. In Tennessee the State Record Smallmouth is also the World Record. If I catch that fish, you will see THAT FISH mounted and replicated...

All right guys, Compre vs. Premier
With the close-out sale going on at some retailers right now, you might get an Avid for about the same price. You would be miles ahead with the Avid if you can find the one you like. Two that I would suggest looking at are the AC66MF and the AC70MM.
