I was referring to all those Lucky Craft and MegaBass Lures! I think you already know I'm a HUGE fan of Craig's El Gordo. The tubes I sent are 3 1/2" Mizmo tubes, Kent's Classic (squash green). This is a smallmouth tube I have had a little success with. I think it might work in other waters, too. 8-)
  2. Me like. 8-) However, without military sponsorship or any track record, $1400 seems like a stretch.
  3. I use a similar rig. The traditional inserted jig just doesn't cut it everywhere.

Hmm... I finally got those tubes I promised in the mail to you. Now you can throw all that other junk away!
  5. I'm sorry for your loss.
  6. Welcome aboard! Spend some time in this section and go back through the pages. I think you'll find all the suggestions you are looking for. A lot depends on how much you want to spend. As a general recommendation, I think you can do all your fishing on one rig, but if you are up for two these are the general parameters I would suggest: 6 1/2' or 7' Spinning combination, Medium Power/ Fast Action (finesse) 6 1/2' or 7' Baitcasting combo, Heavy Power/ Fast Action (power fishiing) a third rig, now or down the road: 6 1/2' or 7' Baitcaster, Medium Heavy Power/ Moderate Action or a soft tip for treble hook lures.
  7. Makes all the sense in the world. Great post! 8-)
  8. Tropical Storm Humberto is headed your way with 10-15" of rain forcast. Here in the Mid South that much rain would bring us back to "average". Don't hog it all! http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,296555,00.html
  9. Sorry buddy, you don't get to decide which laws to obey. You don't get any sympathy around here. You are breaking the law. We hope you are caught and prosecuted.
  10. Hmm... I've never met a bass that didn't like a Senko, Fat Ika, tube, jig, Rapala....... Not always the same lure or presentations on a given day, but that's how it is everywhere. Bass are the same all over the world.
  11. I am in the investment business. I was standing at the trading desk at the National Bank Of Commerce in Memphis, tying up a trade with Cantor Fitzgerald. The phone went dead. The Cantor Fitzgerald office at the World Trade Center took THE direct hit. The phone went dead. 658 people "went dead" at that exact moment. I haven't forgotten... I will never forget. I will never forgive.
  12. Take all the rope in Texas find a tall oak tree Round up all of them bad boys And hang 'em high in the street for all the people to see http://unattributed.net/html/whiskey.html
  13. Amazing! 8-)
  14. We have discussed this before. Bottom line, it is not the World Record.
  15. Everything eats minnows! Sometimes you can tell what is chasing the baitfish, other times you don't know, but it never hurts to fish these schools.
  16. A lot of anglers read this and think it will improve my casting distance because it will lube the reel along with the line. Wrong the only thing that will improve the casting distance in a BC reel is the cleanliness and the quality of the spool support bearings, and this stuff isn't a bearing lube....Why are you rinsing your reels??? Are you dumping them into the water to free up your casting distance. Have you dropped them into the deep mud? You don't rinse a freshwater reel with water. In the reel's manual they should be stating you rinse any freshwater reel that has been used in any brackish/salty fishing environments, then dry until you can breakdown the reel and service it immediately each time used in this environment. KVD' line conditioner, is just that a conditioner for the line nothing more. There are only 2 lubricants that should be used in a freshwater fishing reel, a quality oil and gear grease, and should only be used in the proper places in the reel. Just my .02¢ Tight Lines All !!! Hmm... Do you think ReelMech really knows anything about reel maintainance? :
  17. WOW! Talk about a turnaround, man, that's great news! 8-)
  18. Thanks for the reply. I was originally planning on buying the Chronarch, but the Core has my attention. Please post another review later, I know there are several guys eyeing this reel. 8-)
  19. Take another look at these threads: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180909581 http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1184220441
  20. WOW! GREAT report. That's "killin' 'em!" 8-)
  21. Mike Whitten (Southeastern writer for Gary Yamamoto's Inside Line magazine) lives here in Germantown, TN. A couple of years ago he turned me on to fishing deep structure on the Tennessee River throwing 3/4 & 1 oz Ledgebuster Single Willow Blade spinnerbaits. That might be something you could try. This is a big bass lure that those fat footballs have probably never seen. Another suggestion is the LC Slender Pointer which Mike has been having great luck with. I like the Pointer 128. It seems to discourage smaller fish, but makes a tempting target for better smallies.
  22. Great thread! I don't think you need the disclaimer, bass are bass and the technique you described should be effective anywhere. The point you made about water rising or falling just can't be emphasized enough, falling water is the kiss of death.
  23. Hmm... Maybe I ought to check that side plate on my Calais. I set the brakes back in 2001 when I bought the reel. Recently I started throwing some Mattlures Baby Bass on a couple of rods saddled up with CTE200GT equipment. I didn't even know the side plate came off! With some instruction from ReelMech (thank you) I adjusted my brakes for the first time in six or seven years. I had one brake on, but found two were a little more user friendly with heavier lures. Guess I don't understand the problem with Shimano's system. 8-)
