Welcome aboard! I caught my PB on a Norman Fat Boy, bluegill pattern.

It's always hard to tell from a picture, but I would have guessed either side of 3 lbs which is pretty close to 2 lb 14 oz. :

I have never experienced or even heard of this problem before, but as ReelMech suggests, TAKE IT BACK! I would NOT consider "fixing" a brand new G.Loomis.

Hmm... Sheriff, Chief Deputy, two full-time deputies and seven part-time deputies.

The cork on my six year old G.Loomis came loose last spring. Although ReelMech said it could be fixed, both he and G.Loomis suggested I have it replaced rather than repaired. The XPeditor program cost $50 and I had a new rod in a couple of days.

Do NOT "match the hatch." You need something that stands out from the overwhelming baitfish populations. Same color/ different color; bigger size; more flash; more/ less action; something. Shallow running, wide wobble crankbaits are my #1 suggestion. #2 is Rat-L-Trap type lures. In low light, this is the best time of year for jerkbaits, too.

On average a 19.5" largemouth bass will weigh 4 lb 4 oz, 20" = 4 lb 10 oz.

Okay... I have never owned a Kistler, but have been very interested in the company's equipment. When people like Raul relate their experience with the rods and the company's response, I think those comments have substance. Raul's situation is not an isolated case, but has been reported by other respected members on this and other forums. I don't think this is a case of "beating up" on the company, but factual, personal experiences. I guess there ain't nothin' cain't be fixed with a 'lil duct tape.

I just checked Cabela's website and they are not advertising 1 lb spools, but a week or so ago they had Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft on sale for around $69. I would give them a call and see if they have any left.

So with all the inconsistancy, inferior components, shoddy workmanship and outright falsehoods regarding quality control, if you just give Kistler another shot and buy their next "New Thing" all is good and you'll be a happy camper. That's assinine. I have followed this company and their hype from day one. That's bull pooh-pooh! p.s. Some of my favorite Forum Members and men I consider friends are huge fans, so NOTHIN' PERSONAL guys. I have been interested in these rods since earthworm77 became sponsored. I was offered a pretty sweet deal on a couple of rods and have always been interested in Kistler's progress and growth. The story just hasn't played out as far as I can see.

The lake "turns over" when the cold, deeper water becomes warmer than the surface water. Warm water rises, cold water sinks. That is NOT happening right now. Generally, the colder water (below the thermocline) contains less dissolved oxygen. If this is in fact the case on your lake, it is VERY unlikely that you will find fish below the thermocline. During the period when the lake does turn over, fishing is tough (impossible). However, if there is water release, fishing below the dam can be awesome. "Turnover" is usually associated with a shad kill (oxygen depletion). Predator fish lose all inabition when this occurs.

I would like to hear more about the Core after you fish it awhile. I'm planning on putting one on a custom PR844C. I'm really leaning toward the 100MGFV. Why did you choose the 100MG?

A knot is not "good enough" unless it's perfect. Use your favorite colors, the fish don't care. My favorite color is "dark". I fish watermelon with black flakes, watermelon with black & red flakes, green pumpkin w/ black flakes and black w/ blue flakes.

Consider the G.Loomis MBR844C. This is my dedicated jig rod, but if I only had one rod, this would be the one.

Welcome aboard! Sometimes size makes a difference. I would suggest giving them a try.
