  1. Maybe that's true at the top level of the competative casting, but for "fishermen" both types of gear can be cast long and accurately.
  2. I mentioned that to her, but she said "Just take the picture and get over here."
  3. I have a Flambeau Bazooka rod case that is great for airtravel and can be secured to my roof rack for land travel. It holds 6-8 rods, reels detached.
  4. From "can't get a bite" to the "New Jig Man" in one season. I think that's quite an accomplishment. Congratulations! 8-)
  5. WOW! Congratulations! 8-)
  6. basspro48, Do yourself a favor and retie occasionally. Knots experience stress, nicks and wear that you cannot see. Big fish and big hangs always remind me to retiie my lure.
  7. "Best Chance" :
  8. Might want want to consider a Shimano Citica or Curado... :
  9. Check out this thread: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180909581
  10. Nothing has changed, but by Friday the temperatures are forcast to plunge into the mid-90's. Last Satuday it rained enough to bring my three month total up to nearly 2". :-? We are currently 22" below average for the year! Autumn is 24 days away. ;D ;D
  11. Fish Tank, That is an EXCEPTIONAL deal. Congratulations! 8-)
  12. I thought all spinning gear was "sissy tackle." : Guess I like girls.
  13. Maybe this will help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180501296
  14. Spini Boys, Welcome aboard!
  15. I have the AS66MLF. It's an excellent rod, but the tip is too soft for some applications. However, it's fine for any moving bait (flukes, GYCB Kreature, light ot medium weight crankbaits, jerkbaits or topwater) and especially as your drop-shot rod. You will find this stick to be VERY versatile, but not the right equipment for Senkos or jigs.
  16. +1 Well, I didn't win a tournament, but... : http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180909581 8-)
  17. Now we've got it narrowed down. Your comment just struct me as clever and funny. I'll look forward to reading your report and hearing what you have to say. Good luck! 8-)
  18. First of all, if it's flooding DON"T GO DOWN THERE! When things calm down, spend some time looking around. Search for anything that diverts the current: pools, humps, boulders, rockpiles, gravel flats, etc. If smallmouth have a choice, you will not find them in still water with a mud bottom. Try fishing a tube, T-rigged, weedless and skin hooked so you don't get hung up as much. Cast UPSTREAM and maintain contact with your lure as it comes to you. Good luck!
  19. Stop it! Yesterday was my baby girl's first day of college. It seems like last week she was the little girl in your picture.
  20. The best price I've seen on the Shimano Curado 100 ($165) and 200 ($175): http://www.deloscustomtackleshack.com/reels/shimanocurado.html Strong, smooth, silent and reliant. I would recommend Shimano, specifically the Curado at this pricing point.
  21. Welcome aboard! First of all, Yo-Zuri Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft float, they do NOT sink. St. Croix Avids are available other places for $60- $80 depending on the model. Have some patience and BPS will be coming down shortly or shop around. Same story with the Shimano Stradic 2500, Reed's Family Outdoor Outfitters is offering the reel for $94, but it might be bought cheaper other places. (BTW, these are GREAT products that are simply being upgraded and phased out. That's why they are on "closeout.") Now to be specific, "good all-around spinning combination." I'll suggest the Avid AS68MXF matched up with a Stradic 2500FH. Spool on Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (11.9 lb test) and you are good-to-go!
  22. Dude! Stay OFF the trolling motor there in PA! If they find out it was you, it's goin' to cost you, BIG TIME!
  23. I think the main reason they want $1000 is so they can say, they didn't say no. That wouldn't be polite. "Private property" is something people pay a high price to keep "private."
  24. Well, I'm not opposed to experimentation, but if Gary recommends a 5/0 Round Bend Hook and a screw-in or pegged weight to get the best action out of the lure, then that's the way I think you should start.
