Ha ! I did catch the lake record Smallie !!!
Wrong... It's just a very nice smallmouth. Go back and take a closer look at the Hayes' fish, the World Record. In terms of shape and coloration, they are very much the same. The smallmouth Fish_Chris is a very nice fish, but it is a pure smallmouth...No doubt about it.

kb's back
Whoo-Hoo! Welcome back! And BTW, we did miss you...

Finally a good fish....for me
Excellent!

IMX or Legend Elite
Agreed. This difference is probably not all that important for crankbaits and other "moving" lures, but it is considerable if you are talking about soft plastics or jigs.

worm line
I believe I get more and better bites fishing thinner diameter line. I fish all soft plastics on spinning tackle and #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. I am experimenting with #4 (.009 diameter) and may switch completely to this line thickness depending on results. I have been fishing #4 for smallmouth on the Tennessee River since last fall without a break-off. This is very strong line, highly abrasive resistant and has virtually no memory in use.

Todays catch.
There's nothing "little" about that bass! Great pictures, too.

I am very distressed
I deleted my responses on the referenced thread. I appologise to everyone that was offended, and especially to The_Muddy_Man.

State Your RAIN GEAR 101
Cabela's Guidewear is the BOMB! Although it is often on sale, it's still pricey. On the otherhand, guides that wear the gear 200+ days a year have had sets lasting more than a decade. The outfit is much more than just a rain suit, it blocks the wind and when combined with other layered clothing, is suitable for a wide range of temperatures. Your first set might be the only one you will ever need to buy. Cabela's Guidewear is the best investment in fishing equipment I have ever made, period.

Chevy & Mother's Resume
Look who's back! We missed you. I think your resume is great. I'll be interested to see other comments.

IMX or Legend Elite
Three St. Croix including my soft plastics rod, ES70MF. Two G.Loomis GLX, one of which recently replaced my jig and striper rod, IMX MBR844C. So, I am a fan of both companies and familiar with a couple of each one's series. As flechero noted, the blanks are all high quality, but different. Based on the rods I own and some others I have fished, I consider the Elite series comparable to the IMX. However at any stated rating, the Elite is heavier action. The ES70MF is what I would consider MH in a Loomis. Whichever way you go, I am quite sure you will be very pleased.

reel maitnence
I'd either start at USPS or UPS and use that technical skill to send a paypal payment to ReelMech. ...lol Thanks! My friend. That's some pretty sound advice and exactly what I had in mind.

First big tournament. Need help!!!
If I were fishing for five 12", 3/4 lb fish, I would fish a Zara Puppy, Rapala X-Rap or spinnerbait early; 5" Senkos and Fat Ika EXCLUSIVELY the rest of the day. 8-) If I were fishing for big fish: Zara Spook, LC Sammy, Yo-Zuri RatlN' Vibe, spinnerbait or LC Pointer 100 early; a 6" Senko, Fat Ika, El Gordo tube and a jig the rest of the day.

SPINNING REEL AND ROD???
You're right. BPS combo's are ALWAYS on sale, there is no legitimate "List Price."

At my house I get five stars for replacing light bulbs. So...I'm thinking about braking down this Stella... Where do I start?

Reel Oil
Hmm... I'm not exactly sure what all of that means, but what I do know is that David Green is staying on top of the newest technology. "If it ain't broken, don't fix it." After twenty years in the business, I'm going to stick with someone who cares, REALLY cares. If there is actual data produced INDEPENDENTLY, I hope David takes note. That said, I'm going with "Tried and Proven." Thank you for the post Mr. Green. It clears up most of this thread for me. I'll take most of this other gibberish with a grain of salt, we all should know that "credibility" counts. If a significantly better product comes out at a reasonable cost, I'm sure The Reel Mechanic will be there for us.

4/19/07--One Topwater Bass
Did you measure the length? That looks to me like the biggest, or at least longest bass you have ever posted. Man, you're on a roll...Keep it up!
