  1. The Xr50 had been my "go-to" for years, but the RES has replaced it in my line-up.
  2. One of my "Best Ever" trips was fishing for smallmouth at Bull Shoals with Tim "Hotdawg" Curtis. Over a three day period we never went 15 minutes without Fish On! We fished "Baby Diaper" yellow Gitzits exclusively. http://hotdawgguideservice.com/
  3. WOW! Nice fish, great pic and a wonderful story!
  4. Nice fish, great pics!
  5. Congratulations on the PB!
  6. We'll see...I haven't fished them yet, but I wasn't too impressed with them in the pool. Lot's of back & forth action, but like a lot of cheap lures, nothing erratic or novel. I probably would not have bought them if I had seen them in action first. A feature that may be good or bad is that the lure swims VERY shallow and immediately pops to the surface. I will post results after fishing the lure and hope you guys will, too!
  7. Several BR members like the Red Label, but I think it is too stiff for mainline, okay for leaders. For spinning tackle I would recommend Seaguar InvizX #8; for baitcasting Seaguar AbrazX #12.
  8. Return the reel. You paid way too much and it sounds like junk. We have "gently used" come up often in our Flea Market. The price should be $125-$150 for gently used (9/10) or $150-$175 NIB.
  9. Hmm...That changes everything. Maybe we should stop right here. Good night Irene.
  10. Well, you don't have to have dedicated rigs to fish anything, but if you use crankbaits a lot you really should reconsider your options. My dedicated line for treble hooks is Sunline Defier Armilo.
  11. CONGRATULATIONS!
  12. For me the answer is no, I never swim a jerk bait and have never had a strike after I have given up on the cast and simply retrieving for the next cast. Although most guys think the strike occurs when you move the bait, that is not generally the case. The strike occurs on the pause, but you may not feel the fish until you move the lure. Although this is not my most productive lure class, it is my favorite technique. My dedicated rig is a St. Croix Avid AVC66MF with a soft tip; Scorpion 1000 and #10 Sunline Defier Armilo. I fish Megabass Ito Vision 110, Lucky Craft Pointers, Rapala X-Rap, Smithwick Rogues and McSticks.
  13. Potential fine of $250,000 and up to 10 years in jail. Ask for probation and pray for mercy from the court. Or flee to Mexico with an American wife and become a veterinarian!
  14. It's illegal and voids the "Guaranteed To Catch A Fish" warranty. The package is clearly labeled "jerkbait" not steady retrieve!
  15. Been there, done that. Sometimes you may have to trailer to another location on the lake.
  16. #1 (as a leader): Much greater abrasion resistance. #2 (as a leader): The ability to break-off when you need to. #3 (as mainline) Better sensitivity with bottom contact, especially with slack in the line.
  17. Spool up some backing so your Tatsu will fill at least two reels.
  18. Are you are taking pre-orders?
  19. I think it's designed so that no one will know you bought a Flooger!
  20. I think we have had this discussion. It's days that do not end with a "Y".
