  2. Well, I don't know about that, but I do have a suggestion. First of all, I had Mike at DVT supertune both a Curado 50E and 200E. They morphed into something VERY close to the Core. I gave my Core 50 to ghoti. to play with over the winter and he super-dupper tuned it, polishing everything that can be polished! Full cleaning, new grease and oil, etc. Man...talk about primo. So, I guess my point is that the Curado series is special, but the Core is an upgrade. You pay a pretty stiff premium for the marginal improvements, but there is a difference.

  4. I highly recommend the Core 50mg7. I also have the 100, but prefer the feel of the 50. Casting distance is not an issue with this reel, your rod will have more effect. For topwarer lures I'm using a G. Loomis PR844C.
  5. I have a collection, but my most productive is 3/8 oz bluegill/ Rage Tail Menace trailer.
  6. The Trokar 5/0 EWG is a massive hook, it looks like 8/0. I also use the Moaner 6/0 with the Rage Tail Thumper, Anaconda and Mann's 12" Jelly Worm.

  8. Some guys prefer to reel with their weak hand, but most prefer their strong one. Traditionally right-handed fishermen have baitcasting reels with the handle on the right. For spinning tackle the handle is on the left. Here is a post from George Welcome, a well known guiide from Stick Marsh/ Farm 13, Florida: Let's get technical, as there are in fact reasons, not just some lame holdover from days past that put the handles where they are. What will move the fish during retrieval is placed to the strong hand! A baitcast is designed to be used as a winch, so it is the reel that retrieves the fish. Hence if you are right handed the handle is in your right hand. A spinning reel is designed to pick up unloaded or loose line, not retrieve the fish. Hence it is the rod that does the retrieval, so it is the rod that is in your strong hand. If you are right handed then the pole goes to the right hand.

  11. 25%-30% is the rule of thumb, but I think you will find that +/- 2 lbs on spinni8ng tackle and +/- 3 lbs on baitcasting gear is about where you want to be.
  12. I don't remember exactly when the GLX was introduced, but this was the original, at least 10 years old I would think. So now we will see if G. Loomis has added any enhancements to this series.

  15. WOW! That was easy peasy... Called G.Loomis Customer Service which accessed my information which they had stored from a previous transaction many years ago. Paid $100 on a credit card and the new rod is being shipped today. Upon receipt I send the broken rod back in the tube they send, prepaid. Very pleasant folks and the whole deal did not take ten minutes.

  18. We have had several articles written by the Moderators recently on our take on both Pinnacle and Okuma rod & reels. They offer many options for spinning and baitcasting gear.
  19. I have a dispute with 'company X'. Can I post about it here? While we can empathize with your frustration, the best course of action is deal directly with the company. Escalate it up the ladder, file a grievance with PayPal or Ebay (if they were involved with the transaction). File a mail fraud complaint with the post office.
