  1. Spend some time looking around the site and read "Fishing Articles" at thw top of the page. This will get you started: http://www.bassresource.com/seasonal-fishing-articles/
  2. Perfect! My 3 month old (first) grandaughter special ordered a new custom build from DVT. I hope to have it to give back to her someday!
  3. Let's move forward. I offer my best wishes to you and your family. Welcome back! -Kent
  4. My favorite combination: GLX MBR 842C/ Core 50mg7/ Tatsu #12 It can do a lot of things, but for me this is a dedicated swim jig and small swimbait rig.
  5. If you find it too bulky, pick another brand.
  6. Well, that is not necessarily the case at all. My spinnming tackle is a bit more expensive than any of my baitcasting rigs. I like both types of gear, but have a strong preference for one over the other depending on the technique I am fishing. Power fishing = baitcasting Finesse = spinning gear
  7. I think most guys pre-rig everything they think they might use, then make adjustments on the water. Pastics don't dry out in weeks, let alone overnight.
  8. AAA, as nice or nicer than any rod I have ever owned.
  9. I fish them almost exclusively on a shakey head. The bait and rig is probably my most productive set-up, but I have an issue that sometimes prevents me from fishing this rig. When the fish are especially aggressive the fish inhale the bait and are gut-hooked. I always pinch down the barb on the ShakE2 which helps, but does not always work. I have heard that the GYCB Kut Tail is the most popular soft plastic in Japan, above the Senko. Does anyone know if that is true?
  10. Next time you target green fish on the ledges, try a purple worm or more specifically a Rage Tail Thumper (bluefleck). You might also consider feeding some smalljaws. Posted May 18 2014 - 09:14 AM Two boats, four fishermen = 74 smallmouth, 8 green fish and a dozen or so "other species". EVERYTHING was caught on a 3" tube, although I threw a variety of hard baits, jigs, soft swimbaits and other soft plastics. Also note: the color was BPS 71 except for one smalljaw I caught on an original Gitzit, baby diaper yellow (chartreuse).
  11. Do you know anything about "some guy" introducing a new worm specifically designed for the wacky rig?
  12. My #1 crankbait is the Norman Fat Boy (redear).
  13. Excellent advice!
  14. SPEEDBEAD has made the phrase famous around here. I got it.
  15. After you fish them report back!

  17. CONGRATULATIONS!
  18. I have had the privilege of fishing with Big O a few times and he would be my choice.
  19. X2 If you want to devote some time to a project, contact your State Wildlife Department to see if they are willing to evaluated the pond. I'm guessing the best solution is to kill every little fish you catch, but you will need permission from the state and whorver owns the property. The standard rule is to take out all you think is necessary and then do it again!
  20. WOO-HOO! FedEx just delivered my new replacement!
  21. Might want to add the Fat Ika as another option.
  22. I suspect this will become your favorite rod.
