  1. I posted this a few minutes ago on the other ShakE2 thread: Also try lifting the ShakE2 just of the bottom and letting it sit before moving it forward. I caught a +/- 6lb bass yesterday using this presentation riggrg with a GYCB Kut Tail (green pimpkin/ black flakes).

  3. Are you rigging The Bug with the tail vertical or horizontal?
  4. I had the opportunity to fish with The Man himself! Big O used a modified Eeliminator for the trailer. He fished the Rage Blade slowly, ticking the bottom and/ or the top of a weed bed. The modification was simply trimming the sides of the body. The resulting profile matches that of a mature threadfin shad (yellowtail).
  5. Most, if not all states, award records for fish caught on "rod & reel" only.
  6. A great all around line is Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Spinning gear: #6 Baitcasting: #12 My jerkbait rig is the only reel I have spooled with monofilament. Sinline Super Natural #12
  7. Keep an eye on our Flea Market. A "gently used" Symetre should cost around $75.
  8. I think "technique specific" proviides some guidence for selecting equipment with the characteristics an angler is looking for to fit his fishing style. Fishermen can do almost everything with just one "all purpose" rig, but collecting gear that we consider "perfect" for a specific presentation is fun for a lot of us. These are NOT rules, just suggestions: For enthusiasts, technique specific gear is fun to collect. However, three rigs cover all the basics: #1 6 1/2' or 7' MH baitcaster for jigs, some soft plastics and spinnerbaits #2 6 1/2' or 7' MM baitcaster for treble hook lures #3 7' MF spinning rod for lighter lures and a variety of techniques
  9. Well, you will need to give us a budget if you want specific advice. My general suggestion would be to keep an eye on our Flea Market and buy a "gently used" Shimano Symetre for around $75 or less.
  10. For traditional jigs: Rage Tail Baby Craw, Craw, Lobster and DB Craw For swim jigs: Rage Tail Menace, Shellcracker and GYCB Swimming Senko

  12. January 15 & 22 2005 On Saturday January 15 I caught fifteen smallmouth on the Tennessee River below Pickwick Dam. Eight of the fish were over 5 lbs. The following Saturday I caught the two smallmouth in my avatar. The fat one was the hardest fighting freshwater fish I have ever caught. She weighed in just over 7 lbs. An hour and a half later, around 1:30, I landed the second fish. Although she was nearly 4" longer, she was only one pound heavier. That fish remains my PB smalljaw.

    Sweet!
  15. The best time to try a new bait/ lure is when you are on a big bite. Two weekends ago I was fishing Pickwick and got into a BIG bite, exclusively smallmouth on a thin 3" tube. I threw at least six other soft plastics on this trip just for trial.

  20. Mike at Delaware Valley Tackle is currently building a rod for me very close to your pricing point. I expect this rod to be comparable in every way to a much more expensive G.Loomis NRX. Give him a call and discuss what you want. http://www.delawarevalleytackle.com/
  21. The distances involved are simply unimaginable. Our galaxy, The Milky Way, is more tha 100,000 light year from one side to the other. However, perhaps at some point in the future the human race will find a way. I still have no idea how color televison works or most of those other waves that surround us. A thousand years ago no one could possibly comprehend something like this could fly.
  22. Geez! That's toooooooo big!
