  1. Let's kick it up a notch...Perhaps all the "known universe" is comparable to just a single drop of water in the ocean.
  2. I am using both on different rigs. The advantage of straight fluorocarbon is better feel on slack line, bowed and in wind. Using a leader on braid mainline allows you to break-off when needed and is very cost effective.

  4. Well, you got it, so what is it?
  5. Broke both elbows catching stripers on them last August.
  6. You will like them!
  7. Hmm... $400 cheaper than the $400 I paid would make the Van Staal free! A quick seach on the internet indicates a price of $800. I'm not quite sure where you came up with "$400 cheaper". The cost of fishing gear, excluding boats & motors, pales in comparison to cars and houses. Depending on where you live the average price of a house ranges from about $140,00 - $280,000. For new cars the average is $28,400. Back to my original statement, I am not arguing that the Stella is a good "value", but it is a GREAT reel!
  8. MegaStrike I specifically recommend the MegaBug and the MegaTube Craw rigged on a ShakE2 Professional Series

  10. Just a suggestion... Instead of having eight threads running on page one, perhaps it would be better to consolidate all the news from the basement into one ongoing journal. "Raider's Corner" would cover a lot of ground.
  11. Well, next time you are shopping for shakey heads give our sponsors, MegaStrike and Siebert Outdoors a shot. You may still prefer another brand, but I assure you that you will not be disappointed with either of these brands. -Kent
  12. Well, another way to look at it is the reels are approximately 10, 8 and 6 years old. On the advice of a couple of professionals, the reels only require a complete breakdown "as needed". Although these reels perform SIGNIFICANTLY better than brand new, I am having the 2500FB serviced for the first time "just because". Unless lost or stolen, the reels will probably be fished for at least another decade!
  13. Well, all this talk a bout the NRX vs custom rods has just worn me down. I need another rod like I need another hole in my head, I just don't know how big the hole should be! I am having a split grip spinning rod built for soft plastics from Mike at Delaware Valley Tackle. I mailed him the reel that will be used, a Stella 2500FB. I'm having it serviced at the same time. I'm pretty jazzed up!
  14. Great pics! Did you weigh the smallmouth?
  15. All of Dwight's pictures and now, 00 Mod. Great work guys! Nice fish and BEE-U-TE-FULL pics!
  16. I always heard 3: The first is the dumbest fish in the lake, then the 2nd dumbest, but #3 establishes a "pattern".
  17. I don't know whether the Stella is a good value, but it's a GREAT reel! The line has developed over time and I have upgraded some of my originals to the next model. Shopping around a little I have paid about $400 on average. I currently own the 1000FA, 2500FB and 2500FD. It's like holding "kitty cat" in the palm of your hand!
  18. Does anyone own this unit? We would like to hear your thoughts.
