  1. I carry two Jitterbugs and have a few more in reserve, but I can't remember fishing one since I was a kid. That's decades, not years. Floating Rapala? Hmm...I have five balsa originals that I inherited from my dad. I carry them all, but not a one has ever gotten wet. These lures are probably cc. 1960 or so. What's especially interesting to me is how plain-jane the originals are. There are probably not many fish alive that have ever seen these lures.
  2. I walk around the ponds I fish. Sure, there are certain areas that are better than others, but pond fish tend to search for forrage, not wait for it to come to them.
  3. Do you know what some of the hot lures are?
  4. This is a GREAT reel and a steal! http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/135004-pinnacle-optimus-xi-hs-hand-tuned/ Otherwise, Curado 50E or new Curado I
  5. Great deal, I dropped a little coin this morning, too. Thank you for the tip!
  6. Well, what else is there to say? http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/lake-guntersville-2012.html
  7. Jerkaits, lipless cranks, square bills, swim jigs, Rage Lizard, Baby Craw, Craw & Lobster and the Sworming Hornet/ LFT Live Magic Shad. Other suggestions: Topwater, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, DT6, Bandit 200, Fat Ika and Senko.

  9. Hmm... Anyone that did not include MegaSrike, Siebert, NorthStar, YUM or Rage Tail is missing the boat. Our sponsors offer some GREAT products and service. I hope you give them a shot. -Kent
  10. Well, I'll start you off with something simple: I am using a Moaner 1/4 oz weighted hook http://www.moanerhooks.com/the-stroker-hook/ on Shadalicious and Berkly Hollow Belly swimbaits. You DO NOT work the baits, they provide all the action by themselves. Depth is basically a function of retrieve speed which will vary. Cast them in and around structure and cover. It's that simple.
  11. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/130634-rod-selection-the-basics/ Just trying to keep it simple, but yes, it does make a difference.
  12. Believe it or not, there is a City Council Women in Memphis that makes this guy look like a genius! http://www.memphistn.gov/Government/CityCouncil/SuperDistrict8/Position2.aspx And yes, that is her real name.
  13. Perfect! I would just add a couple others to consider: MegaStrike Cavitron Buzzbait Rage Tail Toad and Menace Lucky Craft Sammy and Gunfish
  14. I hate it when that happens!
  15. I think your spinning tackle is GREAT and money well spent. As you expand your collection, here are a couple of suggestions: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/130634-rod-selection-the-basics/
  16. Indeed, expert advice! For those of us that must rely on others for the technical aspects of rod design, build, and components, I think this is where "brand" comes into play. There are many choices, but a reputation is built over time. It is earned, not granted. Although ANY rod can be used for almost any technique some guidance from the manufacturer comes in handy. For an all-around rod, 6 1/2'-7' MF will work just fine. However, as just one specific example, a Medium Power/ Moderate Action would be a much better choice for treble hook lures. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/130634-rod-selection-the-basics/

  18. Well now, wait a minute... The South Pole is anchored by Antartica which in effect acts as a pivot point of a fulcrum. Since there is more land mass in both the northern/ eastern hemisphere, the weight causes the earth to tilt approcximately 23.5 degrees.
  19. Or shopping for a new pair of shoes for her. Seriously, how many pairs of shoes is enough?
  20. Well, generally Big O only weighs fish that may be a lake record or personal best. He seems to "get lucky" a lot!
  21. Palomar Knot for single hooks: http://www.animatedknots.com/palomar/index.php 16-20 (Duncan or Pitzen) for treble hooks and lures:
  22. Great report. I bet things will start to pick up soon. Good luck!
