  1. Need to add the Rage Tail ReCon to the list!
  2. I am fishing MegaStrike StrikeBack and Siebert Outdoors Cosmic. Both brands are built with superior components and built to last. One adjustment I make on all spinnerbaits is replacing the skirt with Lumaflex skirts.
  3. #50 Kanzen braid with a #20 fluorocarbon leader on the heavy power rod; #20 Tatsu on the medium power. If you don't want to spend that much, Sufix 832 is a great braided line and Seaguar AbrazX is a good fluorocarbon.
  4. A longer rod is the simple answer. I generally fish weightless soft plastics on spinning tackle, but in thick cover I might opt for baitcasting gear. My rig is a BCR893/ Curado 50E/ #10 Kanzen with #6 Tatsu leader.
  5. While you're waiting on The Bug, spend some time with both the Cut R and ReCon if you haven't already.
  6. I like wire ties and eyes, but the eyes are just cool, bass don't care! Two other suggestions: (1) Swim jigs with a little smaller profile, both 1/4 & 3/8 oz. (2) Order at least two of everything so you will always have a backup in case one of these become your favorite.
  7. Well, I don't know anything about the current production rods. I am aquainted with the original owner, have fished with him and his equipment. My fishing partner and I were scheduled to do a segment for Mid South Outdoors, but in preparing for the shoot we spent a day on Pickwick fishing Hammer Rods exclusively. As a result we did not end up filming an episode.
  8. 16-20, also known as a Duncan or Pitzen Knot
  9. Seaguar make other fluorocarbon lines that are MUCH more user friendly. InvizX for spinning tackle, AbrazX for baitcasting. If you are looking for the, ultimate fluoro, Tatsu is THE BOMB!
  10. "just as good as..." has never cut it with me either.
  11. Nice fish, great pic! Mike's "bluegill" is killer! When I break open the last three-pack, it's time to reorder. BTW, my most productive trilers are the Rage Tail Menace and Shellcracker. I think Siebert Outdoors carries both.
  12. I have a lot of luck with swim jigs, you will, too!

It's just nice be out there!
  14. Congratulations!
  15. Well, I like a big splash to start with. Talk with the locals at the tackle shop. Sometimes there are certain lures and colors that are hot. Otherwise, use your favorite color and lures you have confidence in.
  16. Rage Tail Baby Craw & Lizard, Red Eye Shad, GYCB Senko & Fat Ika, small paddle tail swimbaits, jerkbaits, shakey head, swim jig, Sworming Hornet, Bandit 200, Wiggle Warts, spinnerbait and the Alabama Rig.
  17. First check with the retailer and then contact Lew's.
  18. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/130634-rod-selection-the-basics/ A good "all-around" rod is the St. Croix Avid AVC68MXF
  19. AVS66MLF for white bass and stocker trout AVC66MF is my dedicated jerkbait rod
  20. I think the AVC70MF is a fine choice, but I prefer spinning tackle for weightless soft plastics. My main rig is a St. Croix LES70MF/ Stella 2500FE/ Tatsu #6
  21. Lots of fans looking forward to the new Rage Bug.
  22. Give these a try and see what all the talk is about. Bobby has a large following on this forum. You can order direct and be sure to add a few of his other baits. I am especially fond of the MegaBug and MegaTube Craw.
