  1. DT6 was King at Guntersville recently.
  2. I pack everything I plan to fish on a given day in a worm binder: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=worm+binder&id=217C0BF0A640F1119F0FEA02DEA3F1C0A1CADB82&FORM=IQFRBA On either side, inside, I have Plano plastics boxes. One for jigs, the other for all hard baits. In the binders I carry soft plastics and terminal tackle in their original packaging. This system forces you to be selective, but it works for me!
  3. I cannot disagree with the facts you have stated. Still, I am experimenting with fluorocarbon leader. My #1 suggestion is to spend a lot of time practicing tying the knot. When you are tying to fish, the knot MUST BE PERFECT or it is not good enough! Although I would claim to "have it down pat", on average I have to tie the Alberto Knot twice to get the perfect knot. That means sometimes the first try works, but sometimes that's three or four attempts. Three more observations: My loop is formed with the fluoro and wrapped with the braid. I pull the knot as tight as I can get it with bare hands. I clip the fluorocarbon so just a smigin is showing and burn the braid so the tag is nothing but a bead. To do this move the knot into the flame and just barely burn your finger tips!
  4. I think the category would be considered "creature bait". It doesn't necessarily represent any particular forrage.
  5. Often the key factor is depth. I recall numerous outings where all the quality fish were 6' - 10' or +/- 15' on a given day. As a specific exmple, a few years ago Big O and two of our soldiers were pitching Rage Tail Baby Craw on a lightly weighted T-rig. ALL the fish were caugt as the bait drifted down to 15'. On that particular day the guys boated 144 smallmouth between them! Note too, some of the fish were caught on a Red Eye Shad, but the depth was approximately the same.
  6. OMG! I didn't know red fish grew that big!
  7. Well, Pinnacle became a sponsor about the same time they joined ranks with several tourning pros and introduced the new Tournament Series rods and reels. I have been impressed and believe this is a whole new ballgame!
  8. http://www.bassresource.com/fish/fishing_log.html We have several members that have recorded every trip for decades. I think Catt may have records going back into the 70's. RoLo I think is another with detailed records.
  9. Welcome aboard!

  11. Congratulations! You will really like the rod.
  12. This is what I use, but the Sufix 832 is great braid in my opinion. The leader could be a number of brands, too. #20 AbrazX or #15 Yo-Zuri Hybrid are a couple of suggestions.
  13. Okay, that's pretty funny! I do think the "learning curve" is a little shorter on better equipment. The Citica is VERY user friendly. A "gently used" reel will probably run $65-$75 in our Flea Market.
  14. Well, I don't think you should restrict your hookset. Spool heavier line and make sure your Alberto Knot is PERFECT. I would suggest #50 Kanzen/ #20 Tatsu leader. You can still break this if you are hung-up and need to, but you will never break the line on a hook-set.
  15. I like to split-shot the Rage Lizard on spinning tackle.
  16. Wore out a couple of Abadabbadoes before investing in a Shimano CTE200GT. Today this reel is better than the first day out of the box!

  20. Thank you gentlemen. Family and friends are gathering today.
  21. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/128588-pinnacle-review/ Call Ron at Valley Sports for the best deal on Pinnacle rods & reels.
  22. Some tools are better suited for certain jobs.

  24. The performance and feel of the Curados you tuned for me can be described the flutter of an angle's wing. ghoti. has been playing with a Core 50MG I gave him a few months ago. The reel started out perfect, but I'm exciting to find out how much better it will be!
