  1. Hard lures or soft plastics, they ALL get treated with MegaStrike.
  2. Both Siebert Outdoors and NorthStar Custom Baits make a great swim jigs. I especially like the bluegill patterns with a Rage Menace or Shellcracker trailer. Another suggestion that is red hot right now is the Rage Cut-R worm. Rig this with the tail down and swim it. Shallow crankbaits are another option. This years "hot lure" is the DT6, but my favorite is still the Norman Fat Boy (redear pattern). Topwater lures should be coming into play (Zara Spook, Sammy, Pop-R) and if you just keep it shallow, spinnerbaits should work, too. The MegaStrike Cavitron is something you should try. We sometimes overlook the old standards. Have you tried an Original Floating Rapala? Jitterbug?
  3. Real fish usually have a white, silver, yellow or orange bottom side and it's usually solid. However, when you work a lure the sides and maybe the top go underwater. Bass may be able to see colors close to the water, but above the water. so color may come into play. In clear water details may come into play, too. Ask the guys fishig big swimbaits in clear water what they think and most will be very particular about both color and detail. Still, I think profile and action are far more important, but it's the little things that separate the men from the boys.
  4. Nah, I'm rigged and ready to at least start the day: PopMax Megabass Ito Vision 110FX Norman Fat Boy Fat Ika Siebert 1/2 oz jig/ Rage Tail Lobaster The Rig
  5. It was probably Pickwick or the tailwaters below the dam, technically Kentucky Lake. Bill had a house just a mile or so below the dam. I have fished the same water with him and his catfish partner James Patterson (Big Catfish) on numerous occasions.
  6. I am rounding up suggestions from my local friends, will post their thoughts later today and update everyone Wednesday evening. Smallmouth have been on fire and more water should not hurt a thing!
  7. Geez...1973...That's awesome!

  9. This pretty much how I look at the issue, too.
  10. #6 has a breaking strength of 11.9 lbs and is my recommendation for spinning gear. #12 for baitcasting gear

  12. The Texas Rig is much easier to fish weedless. T-rigs still get hung-up, but nothing like an exposed jig head.
  13. Three of the ponds I fish are in the Germantown-Collierville park system. Specificvally Grove, Neshoba and Collierville Civic Park. The bass are currently spawning and the bite is slow. I caught one bass and a soft shelled turtle yesterday at Neshoba, not a single bite today at Grove.
  14. The Rig seems to be more effective in the spring and fall.
  15. I have pretty good luck with the Fat Ika http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/6454-the-magic-lure/ http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/lake-guntersville-2012.html
  16. I think spinnming tackle is the best option for soft plastics, especially weightless presentations. Specifically a 6 1/2'-7' Medium Power/ Fast Action. If you want more suggestions let's start with a pricing point.
  17. If you have found fish, you have something else that will work just fine.
  18. I have tried, but can't figure out how to fish a spoon without losing them almost immediately! Several years ago we had the RoadTrip on Kentucky Lake the week after a big BASS or FLW tournament. That contest was won on a spoon made locally and priced reasonably ($3). I think I bought 6 and lost 2 on 2 casts and another a few casts later. The rest were fished on other trips, but lost just as quickly. So, just be stubborn I purchased a few LFT flutter spoons with the silly idea that they might not suffer the same fate...I was wrong! I have two right now that I plan on losing next week. p.s. Never have had a single bite either.
