  1. Not chapped at all, but amused that people living on the wrong side of the Mason-Dixon Line complain about the cold. Is it really any different than 5, 10, 50, 100 or 1000 years ago? I grew up in Missouri. I expected the skys to be gray from November through March, heavy rain in the spring and unbearably hot and humid in the summer. For guys further north, why?
  2. Fast enough to just keep it off the bottom.
  3. Yes. I have the AVC70MM, too. It's a GREAT rod for medium weight crankbaits. Mine is saddled with a Shimano CH50Mg/ Izorline #10
  4. The story is real and the fish was released! I'm probably going to fish Grove tomorrow morning. Say "Hey!" if any of you are there. -Kent

  6. As a leader I don't think the brand is particularly important. I would recommend Seaguar AbrazX For mainline manageability is a primary concern. Seaguar Tatsu is THE BOMB!
  7. Pretty cool. Did you teach him anything?
  8. Switch to the 16-20 also known as a Duncan or Pitzen Knot http://www.netknots.com/fishing_knots/pitzen-knot NOTE: I modify the knot by wrapping the tag from the eyelet up putting the tag through the top loop in the same direction as the main line. Play with it a little and you will like the neat appearance. This knot is effectively a noose.

  10. A very versatile rod and my dedicated jerkbait rod, too!
  11. And as your bait goes straight to the bottom and you line starts to twirl, you realize, "probably not".
  12. My kindest thoughts are with you and your wife. Stay strong, that is what your mother would want. Celebrate her life and tell her you love her. We can never know if that might bring some comfort to her heart.
  13. Here ya go: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/forum/26-fishing-résumés/ The only section that has been removed recently is the "Women" forum.
  14. Woo-Hoo! That is exceptional service.
  15. Wow! The price is certainly tempting. I would like to hear about them from someone that has fished the rods. I guess I missed this, I did not know Gary Loomis was back in the rod building business.
  16. The last time I was there we put in at the State Park Lodge and fished back into the cove. A tributary comes into the cove and you will see a bridge. The rips rap was red hot and I snagged this young later on the otherside off the wooden dock. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/lake-guntersville-2012.html Fish the rip rap inside and out, but be careful around the bridge, you might get your arm broken!
  17. I think the new reels look great.
  18. I think G. Loomis starts with the IMX Series. Below that there are better options.
  19. Curado G is being discounted at $90-$100.
  20. The rod is more important. These are my rigs: 1. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/pinnacle-optimus-xlt-dhc-review.html 2. St. Croix AVC70mm/ Shimano CH50Mg/ Tatsu #10
  21. Without knowing a thing about the lake, I will still suggest starting out with a MegaSrike Cavitron and StrikeBack Spinnerbait tied on. Later you might give the MegaCraw Tube a try rigged on a 1/2 oz ShakE2 Pro Series. I always slather on some MegaStrike, so you might want to give that a try, too!
  22. Probably not in Oakley, KS, but in some of the bigger towns seafood is flown in daily.
