  1. First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! As a general rule, we don't like people challenging fish that have been weighed and pictured. When someone doesn't weigh a fish and asks "How big is this bass?" that's different and the door is wide open. It's not really that important how much your fish really weighed, this whole deal is for fun! So, it's nice when the OP looks at these posts constructively, checks his scale then comes back with a response. The mistake is totally understandable. No harm, no foul. It's still a nice bass.
  2. In addition to Falcon Craw and Green Pumpkin, I like the Rage Tail June Bug with brown/ orange jigs. For a bigger presentation, try a pack or two of the Lobsters, too!
  3. Shallow: Norman Fat Boy, Bomber Square A, Bagley B2 and Lazy Ike Midrange: Fat Free Shad, Lucky Craft LV RTO Omori 2.5, KVD 2.5, Bandit 300 and KVD Red Eye Shad Deep: Norman DD22 and Rapala DT16
  4. Great post!
  5. SNAP-SET When you detect a bite, lower the tip of your rod and reel the slack line up QUICKLY. Snap you wrist upwards without moving the position of your hands or arms relative to your body. All the energy sould then be transferred to your rod tip. This is all the force required.
  6. Right now it's a NorthStar Swim Jig with a Rage Tail Shellcracker trailer.
  7. The Rage Rig has no specific depth restriction.

  9. Here are a few ideas: Baby Rage Craw, T-rigged with 1/4 oz bullet weight. MegaStrike MegaBug Smithwick Rogue Sworming Hornet/ LFT Live Magic Shad NorthStar Original Swim Jig/ Rage Tail Menace or Shellcracker
  10. I would make a similar statement to the one I posted earlier on this thread. To have a shot at the World Record you have to catch some fish in the zip code. Until Erie produces a few 10 lb fish, the lake is not in contention for a record setting fish. In this region we have three documented 10+ smallmouth and I have personally netted, held and weighed one for my best fishing buddy, Speedy Madewell. He was manning the net when I brought one to the boat: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/68635-huge-disappointment/
  11. I'm sure you will be very pleased with the Chronarch.
  12. Our Bassresource Library is extensive. Start at the top in "Fishing Articles". Every article has several links and the links have links! Read EVERYTHINNG and you will be way ahead of the game. The Forum is fun, but the nuts and bolts are in the Library. (This includes tons of videos, too.) There is som great stuff here, too: www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/60793-best-of-bassresourcecom/
  13. Well, the "Real" World Record is 25 lbs 1 oz: http://www.anglerwise.com/2010/03/10/the-real-world-record-largemouth-bass/ Before Florida, Texas or any other state is actually in the running, they need to produce a few 20 lb fish. The FL State Record is 17-4; Texas 18-2.88.

  16. What I see is a man in the spotlight without a blemish on his "character". You're not going to read about Tim out gang banging at a strip club nor arrested for DUI at 3:00 in the morning. He is a role model for our youth and an inspiration to his fans. I wish we had more men likeTim Tebow, George Brett, John Elway and Cal Ripken.
  17. The Cabela's Guideware I am wearing in my avatar are now over 10 years old and still look brand new! I have the uninsulated version, but with appropriate layering they get the job done in the coldest weather I am willing to fish. I would rate this "equiipment" as the VERY BEST thing I own...period!
  18. How 'bout triming the the wrong "tag end" and tossing your jig in the lake?
  19. Talk with Fish Chris, he knows quite a bit about live bait in general and keeping craws in particular.
  20. I caught my best bass so far this year on a NorthStar Original Swim Jig (bluegill)/ Rage Tail Shellcracker (green pumpkin, purple, gold). Last Saturday the big bass was caught on a Siebert Outdoors Swim Jig (black)/ Back hald of a purple GYCB Swimming Senko. More generally, soft plastics seem to be the best choice for most guys at Grove.
  21. On a river the biggest factor is current Water temperature Bait migration Weather Structure
  22. Go with advice from people you trust. I have bought the majority of my gear from members on our Flea Market. Your local retailer will most likely have Curados in stock for you to see and hold. If you decide on going that route, "gently used" come up quite often for around $125. I prefer the 50E to the 200E, so be sure to check them both out.
  23. 15# will be fine for both rigs.
