  1. I don't know, but if you aren't comfortable with it, stick to the Menace or Single Tail Grub in Blue Glimmer.
  2. Woo-Hoo!
  3. You can fish it weightless, but Gary Yamamoto recommends a 1/4 oz bullet weight. The weight helps transfer energy to the tail. I have done okay with the bait right out of the package, but prefer just fishing the back half naked on a jig head or as a trailer on a swim jig. http://www.insideline.net/articles/swim_senko.html
  4. If you have a 7' MHF or HF jig/ soft plastics rod, it will be fine. 50 or 60 lb braid (Kanzen or Sufix 832). If you want to invest in a rig specifically designed for The Rig, most guys prefer 7'10" HF and a stout reel (Calcutta). Note: I am fishing light baits and experimenting with a couple of different rod & reel combinations: Lamiglas SR705R/ CTE200GT; BCR854/ Curado 200E7 and MBR844C/ Cte200GT. My outside baits are either LFT Live Magic Shad or Rage Tail Single Tail Grubs rigged on thin wire Gamakatsu #4 Offset Worm Hooks, unweighted. On the inside arm I have a Johnson Silver Minnow.
  5. Great review of NorfthStar and their fantastic jigs! Here are a few suggestions for trailers: Shell Cracker (Hard Candy), Menace and Single Tail Grub (Blue Glimmer Flake) . My current favorite fooled my biggest bass so far this year: NorthStar Custom Baits Original Swim Jig (Blue Gill)/ Rage Tail Shell Cracker (Green Pumpkin/ Purple/ Gold).
  6. That's funny and has happen to me. Last spring my partner from Florence and I were killin' 'em in 5'-8' of water with jerkbaits, square bills and Red Eye Shad. A few weeks later we could not buy a bite one morning. We saw some friensds just whacking 'em and motored over. What are we doing wrong? You're casting the wrong way, turn around and cast out to the 2nd channel. The fish had moved out and the bite had changed. 10" purple worms were the ticket, specifically the Rage Tail Thumper in Blue Fleck, T-rigged and unpegged. That's all it took to start "Thumpin/ 'em!" As always, the key is finding the fish.
  7. Geez... I think a smile is in order...CONGRATULATIONS on an outstanding day!
  8. For me it has been having the opportunity to meet so many avid anglers, both locally and throughout the country. I hope everyone will at least consider attending the RoadTrip next spring. The fishing has been good, but meeting so many great guys and gals is what makes the get-together special.
  9. The Core 50 is my favorite reel!
  10. Like Capt. Bob, I bought one of the first Legend Elite, ES70MF. The handle came lose and the rest is the same story the Capitan just told. I now own their latest/ greatest model practically for free! I also own an EC70MHF, AVC70MM and AVS66MLF. I have always been a St. Croix fan and rate their Customer Service a dead solid 10.
  11. Two more recommendations: GYCB Kreature & MegaStrike MegaBug
  12. That would be an easy decision for me... Gone!
  13. Swimbaits, huh? Those are a couple of fine fish!
  14. Well, I consider you a friend, but trying to steal the car from an old man for $20,000 is pretty sad. I understand the difference between "bid" and "ask", but +/- $100K is fair, $20K - $40K is not.
  15. It REALLY doesn't matter, but here are some suggestions: Gin clear water: Green Stained: Purple Smoke Clear (white): Silver reels because it looks cool!
  16. Send a PM, don't respond here. I understand this is a specific request, but responses still fall under the "promotional" umbrella. That applies to everyone except BR sponsors. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  17. I'm fishing a 3/8 oz NorthStar Original Swim Jig with the Shell Cracker trailer. I also fish Seibert Outdoors swim jig (Elite Series) in both 1/4 and 3/8 oz. Other trailers I recommend: Rage Tail Menace & Single Tail Grub; Lake Fork Tackle Live Magic Shad; back half of the GYCB Swimming Senko and MegaStrike 3" Fat Shad.
  18. Siebert Outdoors Big O in Falcon 1/2 oz NorthStar Original Swim Jig in Bluegill 3/8 oz MegaStrike Evolution e2 in Midnight 5/16 oz
  19. You have done a great job with this thread, especially the videos. Thank you! -Kent
  20. The topic has been beat to death for the last 15 years or so. This is the bottomline: Some guys fish the original Senko brand of stick bait exclusively. Other guys have another favorite and a lot of prople experiment with every new name that comes along. I suggest trying a few brands and see what works for you. Start with a couple of our sponsor's offerings: YUM Dinger and the Mega Strike Mega Stick.
  21. Siebert Outdoors, Rage Tail Baits, Deleware Valley Tackle, and Catch & Release are all privately owned and operated. Their baits, lures and services are designed by the owners who are all "hands-on" daily operations.
  23. Welcome aboard! I fish Neshoba at Wolf River & Germantown Pky ( behind Chick-fil-A), Grove Park near Houston Middle School and Collierville Civic Center.
  24. Geez....I guess I missed this one. Boy's will be boys regardless of their age. Good night Irene.
