  1. I appreciate the report and plan to acquire several of them shortly!
  2. I like to fish a jig on structure by moving it slowly with long pauses. Lift the jig as you might imagine a craw crawling over a rock, subtle and short.

  4. Spinning gear: #4 or #6 Baitcasting tackle: #12 <----- #4 Yo-Zuri Hybrid original
  5. Congratulations!
  6. C-rig, split shot or Jika rig.
  7. Well...Go Big O or go home...I like your vids MUCH more. 10 lb "dinks" don't even get weighed!

  9. Lipless crankbaits can be fished shallow, especially ripping through grass. Chrome & Blue is always a good color. I like red in the spring.
  10. With a scrap of line tie a double overhand knot on your main line, tighten and trim. I use these Sinker Stops from BPS: http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Sinker-Stops/product/44440/?cm_ven=bazaarvoice&cm_cat=RLP&cm_pla=44440&cm_ite=productname_link
  11. Start her out right now with white bass. They are on a tear right now. A Silver Buddy or G ay Blade is killer.
  12. A leader is never required, but a lot of guys think it improves the presentation for certain techniques and in clear water. Specifically, I see no reason for leaders on lines fished with spinnerbaits, deep running crankbaits or topwater. Jigs and soft plastics? Maybe.
  13. Here you go: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/13845-guaranteed-to-catch-bass/
  14. All these suggestions should work at one time or another. My most consistant presentation is a Sworming Hornet/ LFT Live Magic Shad. If you go this route, work the bait this way: Long cast letting the lure fall to the bottom on slack line. Once it reaches the bottom reel up 5-6 turns QUICKLY, then allow the bait to fall on slack line again. Repeat until you feel you are "out of the zone". DO NOT pump your rod. The blade will lift the lure when you reel. If you pump the bait it simply moves forward.
  15. You can't have too many!
  16. "Back from the dead", that's clever! Anyhow, I guess I don't really understand this quoted post. "Public" is never "private" although for a while you may have some "secret spots". The public water around here has been producing both size and numbers, especially for the last two years. We don't really compare with the big four states, but the Tennessee River excels in several special categories. Guntersville may have the largest concentration of 6-8 lb bass in the country. Pickwick and its tailwaters (technically Kentucky Lake) have the potential of producing the next World Record Smallmouth. There is plenty of pressure from locals, tournaments and tourists, but the lakes are currently producing the biggest fish and best fishing experiences in the history of the river.
  17. The overall ranking is unquestionable. What is a litle more interesting to me is how much stronger a smallmouth becomes as it grows bigger. A lot of this I think has to do with the size of the tail; a scondary consideration might be "mass in motion". The body configuration is built for speed. The body of a lazy green fish is designed for the lifestyle of a cow: minimize activity, eat whenever the opportunity arises and grow fat. Wow! That sounds like a description of most of the Rebels down here in Dixie.
  18. I don't know why you thought you already received the "right" answer. First of all, I'm not a fan of Fireline (original fused) or Power Pro. I have just started fishing the new Tuf-Line SuperCast which has already received great initial reviews from me and several other members. BassResource members are eligible for a spool at only $4.99. I suggest giving this a try. http://tuf-line.com/free-line.php
  19. Random drawing every night.
  20. I have complete confidence in my drag setting which allows me to maintain maximum pressure on the fish at all times. The fish is either pulling drag or coming my way. Unlike a lot of you, I always prefer that the fish jump, especially the big ones! This my favorite part of fishing. I don't lose too many big fish, but it has happened...http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/68635-huge-disappointment/
  21. Let me be specific: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/13845-guaranteed-to-catch-bass/
  22. Well, here is something to start with: For enthusiasts, technique specific gear is fun to collect. However, three rigs cover all the basics: #1 6 1/2' or 7' MH baitcaster for jigs, some soft plastics and spinnerbaits #2 6 1/2' or 7' MM baitcaster for treble hook lures #3 7' MF spinning rod for lighter lures and a variety of techniques
  23. That's a GREAT rod! I think you should also consider Pinnacle: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/109966-pinnacle-rods-and-reels/
