  1. Spinning: 10 lb Seaguar InvizX Baitcasting: 12 lb Seaguar AbrazX
  2. Never heard of such a thing. Why would anyone care how you fish? Rude is a boat running up next to you, encroaching on your spot on the bank or on the water. Unless you initiated the conversation, I just can't imagine anyone else caring anything about what you are doing.
  3. For enthusiasts, technique specific gear is fun to collect. However, three rigs cover all the basics: #1 6 1/2' or 7' MH baitcaster for jigs, some soft plastics and spinnerbaits #2 6 1/2' or 7' MM baitcaster for treble hook lures #3 7' MF spinning rod for lighter lures and a variety of techniques
  4. No...When I have someone with me, we'll get a few pics. Next weekend I'm fishing ledges on Pickwick with four other boats. If we catch something "picture worthy" I will have someone post it for me.
  5. Send ghoti a PM if he doesn't respond here.
  6. Too cool! :respect-059:
  7. My partner tried to stab my fish at The Make-A-Wish tournament at Florence last October. That cost us "Big Bass".
  8. My favorite rig is the MBR842C/ Core 50MG. I throw soft swimbaits almost exclusively with this rod & reel.
  9. Dateline: Friday, May 25th, 2:45 P.M. Germantown Public Pond Rage Tail Lobster rigged on a Moaner prototype It's 95 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. First cast at 1:00, not a single strike. After fishing a steep bank to the end of the pond, I turned around to walk back without much enthusiasm...it's hot! Instead of "fishing", I simply cast as far out into the pond as I could, then "trolled" the Lobster, releasing line as I walked. Every 75 yards or so, I retrieved the bait, then recast to the middle. The fish struck about half way back. No initial run, just straight up and out. Oh my God! I had at least 75 yards of line out and had no control over the fish whatsoever. Up again! Now running to deeper water I was able to retrieve some line, but she was in no mood for sun bathing on the beach. After a few minutes, the Walmart Girl was mine... No pic, no scale, no claim to weight, but she was HUGE!
  10. Smooth, strong, silent and reliant...I have been a Shimano fan for more than a decade. "Best Value" Baitcasting: Curado CU50E Spinning: Stradic CI4 Another reel I have been VERY impressed with: Pinnacle XLT http://www.pinnaclefishing.com/shop/t-technicalhighlightReels.aspx
  11. Man, that's weird. I have never heard of anyone breaking a spool, let alone two on one outing. I really can't even imagine how a spool would break while fishing.
  12. Let's try this again: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/97447-pickwick-is-on-fire/ The Yumbrella is fine, it just costs a little more, $18 I think.
  13. You posted this an hour ago in the correct srction (Tackle) or another Moderator may have moved it there. At any rate, this topic is posted in "Tackle".
  14. BPS has a $15 version that is fine. I rig it with LFT Live Magic Shad on the outside arms, 4/0 Offset Worm hooks (thin wire) and weightless. I use a 1/2 oz Johnson Silver Spoon on the middle arm. Here are some pics from a trip earlier this year: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/97447-pickwick-is-on-fire/
  15. You don't need special equipment. Whatever you are using for jigs and weighted soft plastics will be fine. You don't need live bait either, we are killin' 'em on The Rig! Here are some pic of some fish I caught earlier this spring: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/97447-pickwick-is-on-fire/
  16. Any of your reels matched up with the 7' MM will be just fine. If you decide to buy a technique specific rod for deep divers down the road, look at the Lamiglas SR705R which pops up on our Flea Market occasionally. You should be able to pick one up for $150-$175.
  17. Mostly Rage Tail, some GYCB and recently BITE IT!
  18. "Just Getting Started" Guaranteed To Catch Bass I just cant catch bass Learning to fish on your own
  19. Yes. Weightless with the skirt up.
  20. Regardless of the location, basic smallmouth lures always include these: Fat Ika, 3 1/2" Gitzit, single tail grub, hair jigs, crankbaits, flukes soft swimbaits and jerkbaits.
  21. The hookset is what makes jig fishing so much fun! I can't recall jerking a jig out of a bass' mouth, either.
