  1. Saturday, October 9, Tennessee River below Pickwick Dam: Water flow ~15,000cfs, water temperature 71*-73*. Third cast around 7:15 = 7 lb largemouth (weighed) Megabass PopMax, frog pattern. Fishing artificial lures produced a few fish and a variety of species. Around noon we switched to live bait which, as you would expect, dramatically improved the bite. The smallmouth have not shown up, although we did manage to catch five, the largest 2 1/2-3 lbs. As the water cools down, fishing will improve. Water flow continues to be the biggest issue. Fish during the week if you can, weekends will continue to be problematic due to the drought. Good luck! 8-)
  2. Great fish, nice pics! BTW, The Jensen's Jigs just arrived. :
  3. Patterns and color, action and profile, depth and speed. The combinations are endless. What surprises me is how lures the don't replicate anything in nature are so successful.
  4. Take a look at the Zebco Omega, too.
  5. This might help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141187546 8-)

  12. There are several topwater baits you should have: Spook, Sammy, Chug Bug, Pop-R, Cavitron Buzzbait, Rage Tail Shad, Devil Horse and Jitterbug to name a few. Last weekend I had two killer hours Saturday morning throwing the Megabass PopMax. p.s. For numbers, the Zara Puppy is King! 8-)
  13. Hey guys! Still kicking...Pant's on the ground...whoo-whoo...pants on the ground...pants on the ground... Geez, I guess I liked that performance just as much as the style!

  15. Well, this guy might know something... However, I'm using a 1/0 Owner (live) bait hook with some success. I fish The Baby T-rigged, split shot and as a jig trailer. Unfortunately, I have become addicted this spring-summer and have had a hard time fishing anything else. Now it's smallmouth season and I don't know what to do! : :

  22. Yeah...Sold a rod I never actually fished! Gotta have a NRX for the niche, just saving my pennies.
  23. ghoti, his brother Mike, Long Mike and I met for a great weekend in central Missouri. Trophy Country is a sportsman's paradise: http://www.trophycountry.com/Fishing.html ghoti and I fished Friday afternoon for about five hours and fifty bass! Saturday started off with a great breakfast followed by a two hour topwater bite. The rest of the day included shallow cranks, soft plastics and jigs. ghoti said the fishing was slow, but I guess previous trips have spoiled him. We had "Fish On!" all day including three doubles! The fishing, the company and the meals were fantastic! ghoti was our chef with inspired dishes for two dinners and breakfast Saturday. Check out Trophy Country for yourself, I know you will like it! 8-)
  24. My partner, Speedy Madewell, is a guide on the Tennessee River. He bought a couple of the Zebco Omega a couple of years ago. They get used quite a bit, have never been serviced and have held up well. I have used the reels for baitcatching on several occasions. The Omega is solid and smooth. 8-)
