  1. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  2. I have an Ocean Kayak...it's not for everyone and certainly not me! However, there are tons of guys like J Francho that just love them. Your flexibility has a lot to do with it and I don't have enough! 8-)
  3. If you like P-Line, I think you will like Yo-Zuri Hybrid, but some people don't. That will always be the case with most things. Try it for yourself and see. The line is not expensive, you can experiment without much risk. Good luck! 8-)

  5. DONE! It will be a pleasure fishing with you. Would you like me to set it up for Monday? I think it's $350 plus tip. Figure $200 each. -Kent
  6. Some guys use it for a dye, but lots of us just use JJ's as an attractant. I use it on jig trailers, at home and outside. If you keep your treated baits in their original bags, the stink is contained. No reapplication is required. If you travel with JJ's Magic, be VERY careful. If it gets hot it might explode. If you spill it, you have to live with the smell and the stain. 8-)
  7. Hire Roger for a day and you will be a lock! http://www.fishpickwick.com/fish_report.htm I spent an hour or so with him at the BPS Spring Classic. Roger is a very well respected guide in this region. Gary is quite the stick, too! In addition to working with Stegal, Gary Harlan is a member of Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits Pro Staff. He likes Flappin' Hogs as much as you and me! 8-)
  8. It's a magic number grabbed from thin air! Pickwick gets a lot of regional pressure and yet, the fishing has improved dramatically over the past decade. The story is that the TVA or Feds killed all the weeds years ago, but have since realized the error of their ways. Perhaps improved water quality is also a factor. At any rate, we have more fish and bigger fish than has ever been reported. 8-)
  9. A professional tournament has little or no impact on Pickwick Lake. The Best In The World could fish 7 days a week, for an entire year, without hooking up with .01% of the bass in that lake. 8-)
  10. Just want to catch a ton of fish? The white bass are on fire below Pickwick Dam. Specifically, the sand in front of the honky tonk and the back side of Diamond Island. Bass fishing has been strong for guys fishing out of McFarland. We had a big day last Saturday fishing lipless cranks and Wiggle Warts for large mouth. Although we couldn't find the small jaws, try the bluff walls and the front of the islands. All of our bass were caught in 4-8' of water off gravel banks. TVA is drawing the lakes down to winter pool, so there is no grass in the water. Water release is currently 45,000 CFS and will be maintained through the weekend. Good luck! 8-)
  11. I prefer 7' for everything except jerkbaits and topwater. 6 1/2' seems to be easier to control when working those lure classes. 8-)
  12. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  13. Four or five hours is about all you will be able to handle. Tennessee River fish workout all year, they don't sleep under ice for 9 months! ;D ;D ;D
  14. Original Floating Rapala, Zara Puppy, 5" Senko and a Fat Ika will catch every fish in the pond! 8-)
  15. Good points! I prefer split rings, too. 8-)
  16. Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft are a bonded, not coated, nylon/ fluorocarbon blend. The Ultra Soft formula (probably) has a higher percentage of nylon than the original. http://www.yo-zuri.com/Products/Prodline/Hybrid.htm 8-)
  17. I'm sure BPS will credit you for the lure or offer replacement. They carry both War Eagle and Terminator spinnerbaits, so using an in-store credit should not be an issue. 8-)
  18. Man, that's a great start to the year! 8-)
  19. Welcome aboard! 8-)

Welcome aboard! Sounds like you are ready to take it to another level. If you are looking for suggestions, post your background and goals in "Tournament Talk". We have members competing at all levels and a few friends/ acquaintances at the very top. Good luck! 8-)
  21. I think His Son pitches in, too! :
  22. I deleted the comment on the sunken island because I can't remember whether it's below Wheeler Dam or Guntersville Dam!
  23. Yes, but both lakes offer too many choices! Focus on tributary arms off the main lake, the water is a little warmer and the fish should be more active. One other suggestion, especially in current below any of the dams: fish the front of the islands. Start all the way out to where you define structure, drifting up to the shore. On earlier trips, that's where I have picked up a few small jaws. 8-)
