Hello, my name is Creampuffwar and I'm a bass-aholic

Featured Replies

except I'm just really getting hooked. I have access to two ponds, one that is a fertile 3 acre pond and another good pond that lacks the right attention. It's great to marry up!

My father in-law has a 9 acre pond that hasn't been fertilized or fished properly in several years and I'm getting involved in getting it back on track. The fertile pond is great because you really can't have a bad day on it and it needs no additional attention.

I grew up on the coast and never did a lot of bass fishing. Working a plastic is easy, so I'm on to throwing my bait caster with crankbaits, jigs, and lipless baits. I get the feeling sometimes I don't really know how to use these lures. I've never caught a fish using a jig. I'm ok with a crankbait, but think there is more to it than what I'm doing.

any advice?

Welcome aboard from NY.

I had several Bass ponds years ago.

Why do you call the one pond 'fertile' ?? Is it weedy ?  It have algae ?

Please explain....

Welcome Creampuff!   I recently acquired  property adjacent to a nice little pond that is supposed to hold some nice bass.  Right now I am waiting for ice out so I can assess it and see what makes it tick.  It's not the 3 acres that yours is, but it should be fun figuring it out and trying to make it better.  Have fun on the forums. 8-)

WOW! What a nice welcoming party.

The 3 acre pond has been in the family for years and we're having to harvest most of the bass we catch right now. It hasn't been fished and is over crowded. We don't have to fertilize right now, although we'll try to manage it at some point to grow bigger bass.
