  1. @Swamp Girl Katie, what beautiful piece of writing! Thank you for being amazing!
  2. Personally, if I see carp thrashing I go to another area, so IDK if they cause bass to move. I do know that bass have fins and they can move and there are many other conditions that affect their movements.
  3. Yesterday caught 3 on double J hook baits. 1 on a spinstick and 2 on a topwater rogue. The spinstick was sideways in the mouth, all hooks penetrated. The rogue fish were hooked on the rear hooks. The best bite was on a frog and a wacky worm. Surface temps in low 70's.
  4. Time goes faster and gravity gets stronger as you get older!
  5. Excellent info! Please provide future experience with these hooks. Thank you for enjoying the total fishing experience!
  6. @MontanaBasser Are you missing any strikes due to the singles? Are you losing hooked fish due to the barbless hook? Thank you for your input!
  7. @Darth-Baiter Better to have dirty gloves than those that have never touched a fish! 🤣
  8. A 4-10 on a topwater Rouge with double J hooks on the rear. One hook in corner of mouth the other in tougue. The best bite was on a sluggo. Only caught this one on a hardbait.
  9. If you are concerned about harming the fish population it seems to me that catching a 2 pound fry guarder and putting him in a livewell is sentencing those fry to a death by bluegill. Lots of good responses to a great post. BTW if the lake aint froze I'm goin' fishin'!
  10. No, I go right on by. Never have either.
  11. After a good day on the water my shoulders are buzzin' like a hive of hornets in heat!
  12. I think you are blessed to be able to do all that!
  13. Yesterday caught a pile of dinks on sqarebills with double J hooks on the rear hanger. Well hooked and easy unhook (mostly). The bigger fish were sloppin' a pink Caffine Shad and a stick worm with a BB shot. I put the crankbait down after about 25 10 inchers ate it.
  14. @Swamp Girl Katie, I may be the head coot! "You don't quit fishing when you get old, You get old when you quit fishing."
  15. Oh Ya, Katie.....they are coming!!!!!!
  16. Such a great adventure! We are green, green, green here in Iowa. Serviceberry and redbuds are blooming. Cool, cloudy weather has dropped the surface temps on the lakes I fish but warm up is coming!
  17. @Swamp Girl Love your reports and photos!
  18. Surface temps went down to about 60 and have not warmed in the last week. The best bite has been on stick worms in 6 fow and small squarebills. So far, circle hooks are getting about a 30 % hookup, J hooks are about 70 %. I'm gonna try a double J hook on the rear. I have pretty much canned the circle hooks in favor of the J hooks. I'll report how the double J hook thing works, good or bad.
  19. I'm sure this is helpful for some. I prefer to use the app between my ears.
  20. I use 3 fluke style baits. 1. Zoom Super Fluke, slow sink. 2. SK Caffeine Shad, faster sink (must have more salt). 3. Sluggo, slow sink. You can adjust the sink rate by using a weighted hook. If a jerkbait presentation is needed in an area that is too brushy for a jerkbait a weighted hook on a fluke works. You can't get them to suspend, they will just keep sinking, but they will come through brush better than a jerkbait with treble hooks. When fishing them shallow I like a pink or chartreuse bait that I can see and hi vis line as many times the bite is detected by the bait disappearing or the line jerking. Push your rod back at the bait after a jerk and keep your eyes glued to the line. Good luck with this lure!
  21. Surface temps were dropping in the last couple of days. Caught 1 on a Hybrid Hunter with circle hooks, rear hook in corner of mouth. The best bite was on weighted sluggos and stick worms in 6 fow.
  22. This is great! I was hoping to bring my experience to others to get their own experiences. Please @RRocket let us know what happens!
  23. Here is a thought concerning this hook project. It messes with your head when you know that you are using a lure that you will miss some fish with. We all know how important confidence is in our fishing. I've found myself wondering if the fish that I miss were the ones I really wanted to catch. I love catching bass and if I catch bass all day long but no big ones I'm happy, but I love a big, fat one too, and I'm blessed to get my share. Lately, as I've been fishing a lure without trebles that doubt creeps into my head, and that ain't good.
  24. We interupt this hook project to bring you FROG SEASON!!!!!!
  25. @JHossYes, that is my thoughts exactly and you rasselling that fish with all the trebles in it is exactly why!
