I put my boat in the water and left my friend to attend it while I parked the truck. When I return he looks at me with a straight face and asks is it normal for water to be filling up the back of the boat. I then jump in the boat and by the time I get the plug in it is to late to just bail. I had to go back and get the truck to load the boat again. I know I made a bonehead mistake by not putting the plug in but my friend asking was it normal for the boat to be filling with water. What a MORAN!!!!!!!

Has anyone given any thought to using composite decking to build out their boats? I am not sure if there is any weight difference. You would not have to woory about it getting waterlogged. I have been thinking building a deck from the 1st seat forwardon my 14 ft modified v-hull boat.

Does anyone know some good smaller lakes to fish in Northern Virginia? I have a 14 ft boat with a 9.9 hp motor. I live close to the Occoquan Reservoir but have only caught 1 over the past 3 years. Any help would be appreciated,ie. best timeof year, baits.

Thanks for all the great advice.I went to BPS and purchased a Rick Clunn 7 ft rod and a Rick Clunn RCX10HLB reel. It has 8 bearings, Inertial transfer bracking system(not sure what this means) and a 6:3:1 gear ratio. I do have an xtra $200.oo to spend if this does not suit me. I hope this is a good intial reel to learn on.

Has anyone taken their boat north of Bull Run Marina? I was wondering if the fishing was good that far uplake and what kind of fish were being caught.

I bought my 14 ft jon boat off ebay 5 years ago. The guy brought it to my house and the boat was as advertised. He asked me if I wanted to take it to a boatyard and check it out which I did. The guy was upfront about the cost to fix the motor. I decided too buy a new oneanyway.

What kind of costs would I be looking at it I had someone replace my old bearings with bearing buddies including labor? I have a 14 ft boat if that helpstell you the size of the trailer. I have had the boat for 5 years and have not replaced the bearings or even greased them for that matter.

Nice looking fish. I went fishing to the lower Occoquan River today and got skunked. I only had two bites all morning. We started to go to Mattawoman but decided against it. Every boat we passed said it had been a tough morning because of all tournaments that have been held lately. I myself can't wait for the Rez to be back in business.

I have two color Lowrance units. One is located at the drivers seat while the other one is mounted near the trolling motor. The one at the drivers seat is a 68C? (small one with GPS).

Rondef, I read some time back that you were planning on fishing Lake Burke at night. Did you have any luck and where did you launch? I would think that you would need to launch from the free launch but I wasn't sure if there was enough water to launch a boat.

Dick's Sporting Goods. They have a website but it does not show the lures. If you look at the website it will list their locations.

I wasn't sure if anyone knew but Dick's has most of them on clearence! I found almost all on sale for .98 excluding the Chug Bug.
