  1. I use beast owners 1/4 and 3/8oz and I would say it does ride higher vs similar baits with same retrieve speed. Slow down the reel and it will stay down but that tail catches some serious water to give it its' shimmy (fast or slow). Personally, I like burning it and then letting it die.
  2. The worst part is avoiding the tungsten flying 1000000 MPH at your head if your sitting in a kayak! I have had some close calls and there nowhere to hide on the yak!
  3. Has anyone ever dumped their edge boxes in the water? Did they float? I know it will definitely depends on how much/what is in there, but trying to get "in general" as the Buzbe boxes pride themselves on floating.
  4. OK I am done looking at these! Starting to throw the TK instead of the glide.. What retrieve is working for you right now? Have you ever swapped tails? I bought a blue fork tail and Love what it does to the bait!
  5. Interesting. I have been moving in the Bigger baits category and love the spring because fish are used to seeing bigger fish all winter as the fry are either growing or getting eaten. After the first group of fish spawns the new fry introduced into the lake force me to downsize again.
  6. You replace yours? I thought it was good forever But for real... THEY EXPIRE/GO BAD?
  7. Tail looks like the fun times will be starting soon!
  8. That the Tiny Klash 6.6'' or the Tiny tiny Klash 4.5? You seem to do quite well on it! I get scared throwing mine in unknown ponds.... (without a plug knocker)
  9. 100% correct- but I just meant the threat of drowning is always there Boats/Kayaks/Swimming/PWC/Paddleboat/PaddleBoard all carry the risk. But I definitely see your point. I was in one last year a few times and could tell it was tippy. Ended up buying a sportsman 120 pdl this year due to its stability and been out only once but felt like I was in a jon boat (was wearing a neoprene vest) That is why I kind of asked this question since I see about 50/50 pfd use (with Fisherman) on the lakes I frequent. Pretty much 0% from the adults getting their daily workout in but most of the kids in their $300 yaks have em on. Just wondering what are your thoughts with the manual/auto inflate on the kayak? Cold water is terrible! Glad he was OK.
  10. I have had that happen. Rough $30 to see explode. I usually convert to manual because of that while still carrying the type 1 2 or 3 as required by the state.
  11. I understand there is a risk of going in the water and not coming out. Doesn't matter if I am in a kayak or a boat and I feel they are very comparable and have the same risks for both. Boat: I only wear my vest when I run or am in a tournament that requires it 100% of the time- then I take it off when I am on deck on the trolling motor. Sure I know I should wear it on front deck as well- But I don't. Yak: I do think I will be wearing a manual inflatable I am just seeing who wears a pfd when the law says you do not have to. In kayak pages it is about 75%/25% but wanted to check in here since this is more fishing related.
  12. State laws around me do not require me to wear a PFD while kayaking and am debating if I need to wear one 100% of the time or not. *in any situations where I feel uncomfortable or ina dangerous situation I would wear one no doubt. Seeing what everyone's state requires vs what you actually do in here. Mainly interested in states that do not require it If it requires it you should be wearing it.
  13. I just picked one of these up. Mind chatting about it via pm? I've bought a few "must haves" but looking to get a head start if possible. Thanks
  14. I was talking strictly soft baits. I have a few glides but have not dove into the deep end yet... I almost bought an Islide but will wait until I lose an S waver lol. I am going to try and stop buying "big" baits as I only heavily fish the spring with them around here as I rarely get to go out in the fall. My swimbaits fit in 1 3700 box and still annoy me at how much it costs lol
  15. After way too much research- I just bought a sportsman 120
  16. I'll add skunks happen more than often for me when I'm "dedicated" but when you get one its awesome... Even when they are small you just cant imagine why that fish bit your lure... Softbaits for days? What do you have? I seriously only toss hudd 68 and magdrafts freestyles. I'd be open to experiment
  17. who do you follow for the drops? I am not on SBU every day just when I need something. But my insta-and twitter do not follow much.
  18. I am- I rarely see anyone else throwing big baits so you will have to stop
  19. That was inhaled! That is all I have been throwing along with a shellcracker. Might have to get the glides out soon...
  20. That is definitely the plan. Went with the garmin 106 So I hope all 3 look good. Planned on doing sidescan across the the top full length and 2d and down scan. I don't think I need the maps up until after I have posted the WP ?
  21. Is there any size in that little pond? I have never fished it assuming it was basically cut off from everything else.
  22. Thanks everybody. I mainly fish 1 body of water and have my spots this will hopefully let me find a few more. Mainly got it for crappie fishing which might turn into Livescope... But wanted to find some good structure for bass.
  23. After watching numerous videos on using sidescan to locate structure/fish I wanted to jump in here to get everyone POV on using it as I feel many topics were never addressed. I want to be prepared as best as I can this spring. TIA Do you rely on Sidescan to help you locate structure or fish? Follow up: Once located structure do you always Waypoint? Do you use Sidescan when there is limited hard structure (but a lot of weeds)? How do you differentiate weedbeds on Sidescan (whole lake is covered in weeds silt bottom)? Can you see fish "in" the weeds? Follow up- do the shadows look different "in" the weeds. ANY other information is greatly appreciated.
  24. I finally found one and love this lure.
