  1. Yeah, the one place they don't snag for me is an brush/wood cover because it can deflect off that pretty well. I may try removing a hook if I still snag a lot.
  2. It's a 4 foot diver in about 3 feet of water so I don't think it's too shallow. Everybody says it's supposed to bounce off the bottom to trigger strikes. I think the bottom composition is just not the best for crankbaits. That's true, but snagging a pound of leaves on every single cast gets annoying after a while. ?
  3. I prefer silent but the rattling one will probably be fine so I think I'm going to get one of those.
  4. This one? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018K9ZPW0/ref=twister_B01AGNQYGY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
  5. Ok, I cut the front point off. Hopefully that helps with the snags.
  6. I'll try both of those. Thank you. Do you think cutting the front treble point off the front hook will help very much?
  7. Yeah, lipless don't seem to snag very much for me.
  8. I've only fished a squarebill a couple times, and I love fishing them. Thing is, there are so many dead leaves/moss/etc. on the bottom of the pond I fish that the hooks are always snagging leaves or something. Is there any way to prevent this? They've been really effective for me when they weren't covered in leaves.
  9. Yep. I'm in Alabama so the pond I usually fish is flooded.
  10. I've never used one but it looks like a great reel.
  11. Definitely fishing in the wrong spot.
  12. Nice fish! I always fish barbless and very rarely lose fish on jigs. It's stuff like ned rigs, dropshots, etc. that are hard to keep fish on.
  13. All I carry is a pair of pliers that double as line cutters.
  14. I don't fish frogs much but I always use a MH for flipping cover. (1/2 oz. 4/0 hook jigs) A heavy would probably be better but I've never had any real problems with the MH.
  15. Thank you, I'll try that. I've tried jigging it through the water column but I never actually let it sink to the bottom.
  16. A 4/0 won't bend out unless you put it under a ton of stress. It'll be fine.
  17. You need to move buddy.
  18. Red eye shad. Make sure get the small one if you're fishing shallow water though. I used to try to fish a 1/2 oz. in shallow water and I couldn't keep it off the bottom at all.
  19. Thanks! Yeah, I still get as excited about catching one (even the smaller ones) as I did when I started a few years ago. ? Edit: Now that I think about it more, there's one exception to that. When I caught my first bass, which was no longer than a few inches, I was more excited than I am about catching a 7+ pounder now. ?
