Crankbait rod and reel
I have 4 set ups for cranks (3 are glass): 7' Tatula XT ML (TXT701MLRB) with Tatula 100HS 7.1:1 7' Tatula M (TTU701MRB-G) with Fuego CT 6.3:1 7' Tatula XT MH (TXT701MHRB-G) with Fuego CT 6.3:1 7'4" Tatula H (TTU741HRB-G) with Tatula 150 5.4:1 I use the Medium and Heavy the most. Medium gets the job done for most of my cranking, deep cranking requires the Heavy rod.

Downsizing Your Arsenal
I have actually added to my arsenal: swimbait set up, heavy/deep cranking set up, and a light drop shot set up. I have 14 set ups for the 2020 season. I never bring that many with me, I bring the ones that I think I need based upon season and conditions.

Comfort is key. I spent significant time trying on different PDFs until I found one I liked and would wear. I ended up with the NRS Chinook. Very comfortable and can wear it all day.- Have you ever counted your lures?
I have no idea. I am working on a spreadsheet that was suggested by BR, but not completed. I will know soon. My guess is I have about 350 crankbaits (shallow to deep), 65 lipless, 75 topwater, 25 frogs, 40 jerkbaits, 100 spinnerbaits, 20 bladed jigs, 75 jigs (various), 25 blade baits, 150 bags of plastics (all sorts), and a bunch of terminal tackle.- Anyone ever "started over"? (Philosophical musings itt)
This hit me over the weekend. I have been prepping my gear for the upcoming season, could not believe all of the fishing stuff I have accumulated. I am going through it all, simplifying brands, baits, colors and weeding out items. I am gifting my son all of it this weekend. Perfect timing since he is moving east of the mountains for a few months to help with the 737 Max that are sitting on the tarmac in Moses Lake. And I will be going over to fish with him a few times during that period. Perfect!- $800 yaks

- Silly question
I use velcro straps. Just wrap around the spool.- Backpack suggestions
Check out Cabelas Advanced Angler Backpack II. Good quality. Holds 4 3600 and 1 3700. It’s possible to make it 3-4 3700.- 6th Sense Curve 55 Finesse Squarebill
They definitely look like fish catchers. I have several Curve 55 cranks and have caught some nice fish on them, grinding rocks.- Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)

- 6th Sense Curve 55 Finesse Squarebill
This new lure came out and I ordered a few to try out. The regular Curve 55 is money and catches them when others won't. Has anyone else tried these? Curve 55 Finesse Squarebill- Will small rivers damage nicer kayaks?
Duct tape works too. Put duct tape on the keel and replace every year if scratches are an issue. I don't worry about it. Scratches are part of the gig.- For those that fish everyday...How happy are you? :)
I am nearing retirement and am wanting to do the same. Fish every day possible! This includes traveling to those lakes I always read about as a kid (think southern latitude).- What’s your favorite squarebill rod?
I use and really like my Daiwa Tatula 7' medium glass rod (TTU701MRB-G) for this technique. Loads up and launches squarebills a mile!- Jerkbait
I have several: 6th Sense Provoke 106, Vision 110 (and +1 and +2), Strike King KVD 300 and deep, and Rapala Shadow Rap. I go with perch, trout and ghost colors.- What's the difference between swim jig & chatterbait?
I have only caught 1 fish on a chatterbait. I have caught close to a hundred on a swimjig: both skirted and non-skirted. All with a Keitech trailer.- How much tackle do you take on your boat
I have a massive amounts of 3600 boxes and a few 3700. If I am going on my kayak, I typically take 3 3600 and a bag of plastics. If I am going on a boat, I typically take 5 3600 and a bag of plastics.- Question for guys who fish straight floro/mono, why do you?
I use mono, flouro, and braid. Never with leaders. Reason: simplicity. I like to keep it as simple as possible.- Getting a Kayak Trailer
I use an EZ-Loader trailer for my smokercraft. It is built for 12-14 foot semi-V boats. I have modded it to accept 2 kayaks as well. I can also bring all three by putting the kayaks inside the boat and strapping them down.- Playing hookie
I have definitely played hookie before - think mental health day. As I have grown older, I have gain benefits, including vacation time. I use that when I have a last minute fishing trip I want to attend. I like to give at least 24 hours notice, but that doesn't always happen. In addition, I can leave early and make up the time during the week. Comp time.- The latest sale thread
worked for me - it was a 12 hour sale. got 3.- Dogs
