  1. Question: How are these fished? Cast, reel to desired depth, then jerk? Or start our jerking to get lure to desired depth?
  2. Thanks for the replies! I contracted Lew's and they want me to send the reel back and they will send me a new one! Super cool.
  3. I use a cheap Berkley binder and have individual waterproof "Loksak" bags that hold each item. No rust issues yet!
  4. Yeah, I actually picked this one up in store. I tried it out before I spent the money.
  5. Last Black Friday, I purchased a Mach 1 combo from Dicks. I got a chance to spool it up and use it for the first time yesterday. The reel casts well, but it grinds upon retrieve. Is this normal for a brand new reel? None of my other reels have been like this. Should I clean and lube it?
  6. Another option could be a close out on last year's models. I got my current kayak - Jackson Cruise 10 Angler for 25% off retail from a local dealer. I paid less than $700 for mine. Great kayak...
  7. same here. bummer
  8. I have 2 of these, they work great for carrying a few spinnerbaits.
  9. I got my first spool of Invisx this year too. 12 pound test. I am very impressed with it. Casts well, low memory, good knots, I use it on my t-rig/jig rod.
  10. I went down this path like other have here. I ended up getting a nice Columbia jacket and pants with Omni-tech for less than $100 on sale. Waterproof and breathable. I layer underneath. Works for me.
  11. I have not been east with my yak yet, but fish over there often from a boat. Love Potholes, Banks, Columbia, etc. I live west of the mountains and fish the lakes here year round. I mostly fish south of Seattle.
  12. I am using Plano 3601 thins: Square bills and deeper divers.
  13. I purchased a Lew's David Fritts cranking rod from Dick's last year. I am pretty happy with it so far. I have it paired with a Fuego CT.
  14. I have the 3600 version of the plano. It works very well. Never had an issue with my spinnerbaits in this box. Holds about 18. I cycle the baits I will be using that day to this box from a much larger box I have.
  15. I would go with a medium fast casting rod. Here is what I carry: 1 MH/F casting - texas rig, jigs, spinnerbaits, bladed jigs, frogs 1 M/M casting - crankbaits, lipless, top water (other than frogs) 1 M/F spinning - weightless flukes and senkos, drop shot, ned rig, smaller lures
  16. Those curve 55s are the real deal.
  17. Building your own is probably going to be better because you can pick exactly what you want. That being said, American Legacy is having a combo sale on the Shimano SLX. $129.99. That is pretty hard to pass up in my opinion.
  18. Just got my Keitech order from Academy. $4.98/pkg
  19. My suggestion is to check local kayak stores for prior year models. I bought my 2016 Jackson last year for 30% off MSRP. As others have said: OfferUp and Craigslist are good place to look at well. Good luck! You won't regret getting a kayak to get off the bank and on the lake.
  20. I have purchased a rod from Dick's and will never do that again either. The rod wasn't damaged, but I was lucky after looking at the crushed box it came in. I have ordered form BassPro and American Legacy, they both sent the rods in tubes with the tips and handles wrapped in bubble wrap.
  21. RES and LV500. The other one is a Sebile Flatt Shad, it is no longer produced. The red craw is killer on the Columbia River for SMB.
