  1. There were a number from that era that were scary. Loved Harryhausen films though...pure fun adventure.
  2. Which is the basis for GPS, Bluetooth and early modes of Wi-Fi....so thank Hedy every time you don't get lost or when ever you hook your device to the Net via Wi-Fi.
  3. I only use two sizes - 1/8 for most conditions, 1/4 if it's windy or I go deep.
  4. He might have both - but all I got is the remote start...and mine shuts down if I don't get a key in within 5 minutes.
  5. It's just a matter of fiddling with the sensitivity/gain.
  6. Been there - done that....definitely NOT a fun time.
  7. Aluminum hull is more forgiving than a glass hull in this instance. Pea gravel up to golf-ball size shouldn't be an issue. I ground my old/rebuilt Alumacraft F-9 in loose gravel without a problem.
  8. What's wrong with it? Picture might help.
  9. Sounds like an easy knot to tie - but not very secure. I'll stick with my M-K knot, thank you.
  10. Ya, the International Eelpout Festival runs day-and-night for 3 days. Though they're having issues with population control. It's held in Walker, MN on Leech Lake and it gets crowded. Had to cancel a couple years cause they couldn't get enough LEOs to effectively patrol. Walker population - just under 1000 Festival attendees last time - 11,000
  11. Tried original Spiderwire back in the 80s...hated it. Tried again with the 'new formula - yep, just as bad if not worse. If you want a 'superline', stick with a good braid....otherwise as noted - nylon monofilament.
  12. Only freshwater species of Cod Also known around here as 'eelpout'.
  13. Anchor - two if I need to...ya, got two in the F-9 Would love to be able to afford it.
  14. Two I use and am very happy with for crappie hunting Okuma Celilo - about $50 Daiwa Procyon - about $80
  15. Huh - just looked at Pflueger's site...seems the President and Pres-XT are the only ones that they left the switch on. Trion, Supreme & XT, and Patriarch new models are missing the switch.
  16. If you squeeze the insulation down, you remove most of it's flotation properties as you'll remove the air pockets.
  17. It's not just that. Where's the extra electricity going to come from? There's only so many places you can put wind-farms on. Not everywhere is good for solar generation We're about tapped out for hydro-station locations...and the ones we do have are suffering lack of water flow Crybabies don't want nukes - even though in the long run it's the most efficient. So - we burn more coal/oil/natural gas to generate that electricity so the 'average person' can feel good about not polluting...while we pump more into the air than the replaced gas-powered cars would have. And as you said - the power grid was NOT designed to handle what we're already pumping into it...add all those electric-car charge stations, and brown-outs are going to be a common occurrence country wide.
  18. I do have one Lews - but it's a Wally Marshall Signature...not a KVD. I looked over the stats for the Lews-KVD rods and reels....nope...not what I'm looking for.
  19. That I'll dispute...Rapala and Zoom selection at TW sucks compared to other places...one's I can't name because they got on Glenn's naughty list. I don't do TW anymore - selection is hap-hazard, some brands ya they're better, others they really fall behind. Prices - I can usually get better elsewhere, I shouldn't have to 'ask' them to match.
  20. I can't remember the last time that OFA was correct in it's winter prediction for us up here.
  21. And it's only TW that does that...other places blatantly advertise the sale prices for Daiwa and Shimano...only TW 'hides' that they're discounted.
  22. Certain brands don't show the discount until you're in the checkout stage...cart won't show it.
  23. Revisited topic Yes, the Presidents have gone downhill the last few years....2019 seems to be the last halfway decent model.... After 2021, they all kind of slipped - even the Patriarch....and they all lost the anti-reverse switch too. I've been a Pflueger fan-boy since the 70s...but now I'm looking at Shimano - specifically the Nasci FC for my upgrades from $40-$50 reels.
  24. War of the Worlds - 1953 Surprisingly, some of the FX still look good today...better than some of the Skiffy films the last few years.
  25. Kage isn't dropped - just a very shallow market....most places carry the Tatula Elite and don't want to keep in stock a second line at almost the same price-point.
