Gear Ratio Question
Long as you can reel 'real slow'...8-ratio on normal handle-turn speed is too fast for any crankbait.
-
Gear Ratio Question
Personally - unless you plan on using it for crankbaits - get the 8.

Those painful pet peeves!
ANY hook keeper behind the reel seat.

Beetle Spin size?
I usually use the 1-1/2 for panfish.

Finally Upgraded the Kayak Graph
Nice upgrade there, man! (Personally...I'd be happy with a used Echomap that worked...)

Calm Weather fishing.
So much this. Calm days, light penetrates better, so the bass are more likely to be under cover to escape that.

Winter dreaming
Hope you get better soon, Catt. Sending best wishes. Oh man, you too? I think I'm one of the few to NOT get it lately. Rest up, man, get better. BR & TB is two of my mainstays - the last one is Bass Utopia cause they're based out of my local area. And of course In Fisherman...cause it's Al...

Frustrating to say the least
I just shake my head at all the reliance on lie detector testing. From the APA "For now, although the idea of a lie detector may be comforting, the most practical advice is to remain skeptical about any conclusion wrung from a polygraph." https://www.apa.org/research/action/polygraph

Frustrating to say the least
They want their 15 minutes of fame...now-days, it's stuff like this that gets it. Like that group of fishermen who made a name for themselves by doing crap like this.

Megabass Price Increase
Correct on that number - just doesn't match the 7% general inflation for 2021.

Joining the 'real' boat crowd
More work done today - and yes, once it's edited there will be a vid up. Almost done with the Styrofoam. All the small pieces are in and the starboard side is notched and fitted. Port side left to notch and final fitting, then it's gluing and bar-stock for hold-downs.

Winter 2021/22
We got the same 'dip' happening here...with snow to boot.

Megabass Price Increase
With food prices up 6.5% from Jan to Dec 2021...it's more like a kick up the backside.

Megabass Price Increase
I just wish my COLA kept up with inflation...

Skipping for Bass
In MN - while the dock might be in public water - all parts of the dock from the footing to the deck is private property.

First Aid?
Paracord bracelet...

Not the target ?
I'll second this...couple experiences I've had WP-90 - 2 bass, 1 pike Lipless crank - 1 bass, 2 pike...second one bit it off and 'stole' it. If you don't want to chance losing lures to Esox up here you got two choices....wire leader...or don't fish.

Megabass Price Increase
I'm even easier. Every few weeks the wife trims the end of my ponytail with a pair of scissors...no muss, no fuss. Ya - when you're stuck with only Social Security, and this year's increase was just under 6%....it's gonna be a hard year.

What is your favorite soft plastic and how do you rig it?
You got a link to that? (It'd probably work for my Zlinkys too)
-
Shad rap sizes?
Yep - I toss the #5 on spinning gear, #7 on the casting gear.

What's up?
I've driven on the ice a number of times. One winter, the mother-in-law was up for Christmas and we got a picture of her standing on the ice of Minnetonka. She's got it hanging up at her place...being a Floridian, it was a unique experience for her.

Winter Rod Storage
This is the one I slapped together from some 1/2" Sandlewood, some screw-in hooks and stain. Was hanging from the ceiling in the garage. It was in the way while working on the boat...I kept dislodging rods when I stood up. So I took it down from the garage ceiling and mounted to a wall in the 'fishing room'. My reels are in the drawer units you see on the left.
