  1. My issue is that currently, launching and landing the canoe requires me to get my feet wet...I'm working on a solution for that, but it's not implemented yet. 43o water and wet feet don't mix...especially at my age.
  2. Just have to be a bit methodical. Make sure you use a good, non-toxic sealant and don't have any gaps between the drain tube flange and the inner wall of the cooler. If it wasn't being used as a bait-holder, you could use any sealant...with the minnows in there, make SURE it's a non-toxic one...otherwise wave goodbye to any minnows you put in it.
  3. They all reference using some type of tube. Just have to make sure you seal it good.
  4. It's more than just drilling a hole - coolers are three layers. Outer and inner plastic with some type of insulation - usually foam - between. You'd have to seal in a tube between the outer and inner layers so that the draining water doesn't saturate and degrade the foam.
  5. I'm nervous enough being a passenger even when I KNOW the driver is good and safe. Also, being an ex-programmer, I'd be scared for my life in one of those...what about an intermittent bug?
  6. I'd give you the Amazon link for mine...but they're of of anything bigger than the S/M BUT - found it elsewhere for just a bit more than I paid - they also have a 2x/3x available. https://www.globalindustrial.com/p/safety/water-safety/life-jackets-pdfs/40627-lxl-fishing-vest-mesh-camo-largex-large
  7. Any LMB between 2# and 3# has a 50/50 chance of ending up in my freezer - then broiled at some time.
  8. Yep - goes on before I climb in, comes off only after I'm back at the launch. It is a mesh-top - basically from the armpits up.
  9. Little tight for a couple dozen - good aeration and frequent water changes would be the key...every 3-4 days.
  10. More room will increase the chance of healthy minnows - gives them room to move and allows more dissolved oxygen. Just be sure to feed them if you're keeping them more than a few days - even standard tropical fish food would be a good bet...though you will have to change the water more often as uneaten food will cloud the water.
  11. For cheap - get a Coleman 55qt cooler. When you want to change the water, just hold a dip net over the inside drain outlet and take the cap off the outside. Drain it to 3"-4" deep, put the cap back on and fill with fresh water. Just brace the lid open a crack to insure airflow, install your aerator and you're good to go. Those Colemans can be filled to just under the top and hold the water...just don't try to move it when filled - 100+ lbs for a filled one.
  12. If you're putting the plastic pads on like I have on the canoe trailer - no, it wouldn't. If you're sticking with carpet, then yes it would - the chemicals in the wood would seep through the wet carpet.
  13. I have five spinning rigs currently - though I'm changing one rod for a different one...this is going to be the new lineup 1 - 1000 size reel, 7' L/F - ultra finesse 2 - 1000 size reel, 7' ML/F - general finesse 3 - 2000 size reel, 7' M/F - Jerkbaits, wacky, light T-rigs, finesse jigs, poppers, shaky 4 - 2500 size reel, 7' MH/M - Crankbaits, soft swimbaits 5 - 3000 size reel, 7' MH/F - Spinner/chatter/buzzbaits, T-Rigs, jigs, lighter topwaters (WP 60,75,90) Only thing I'd add for a 6-rod spinning arsenal would be 6 - 3000 size reel, 7' H/F (Sierra 705SF? Inshore rod?) - flip, pitch, frogs, heavier topwater (WP-110,130) Gives you a full range of lure types/sizes and just about everything short of hard swimbaits.
  14. Ya, as I said earlier, I've got a Berkley Pit Boss that's seen 4 trips, a number of lure changes, 3 fish caught...and it's back in the pack for next year. Some plastics are pretty hardy and can take multiple uses.
  15. Please - tell me they have a 4-year version in case....
  16. A lot of it depends on the formulation. I wouldn't dare do that with a Z-Man, probably not with a Eco Pro...but a Zoom would have a chance of being 'safe'.
  17. Depending on how hard you fish them - some trailers can stand up to multiple uses. The Pit Boss I caught my best of the year with on a swim jig - that was it's third trip out...and the second lure it had been on that day.
  18. If they're going to be stored for a while...take the trailers off. I take trailers off between trips - better safe than sorry.
  19. Male maybe - but Sean himself was fan of the Scottish Trad/Contemp group Capercaillie and raved about the lead singer's voice. "Actor Sean Connery is a fan, describing Karen as having “a throat surely touched by the hand of God”." https://www.scotsmagazine.com/articles/golden-voice/ The singer he loved - singing in Scots Gaelic.
  20. You mean like this? (Wife when she was a volunteer at the local zoo)
  21. I did similar for the canoe trailer - but a different brand. They've been working great for me. https://www.amazon.com/Caliber-23011-Marine-Slide-Pack/dp/B06XY7FP4D/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=trailer+slide&qid=1604157115&sr=8-6 Ya, since I've still got a wood base...rotting can be an issue in the future.
  22. Best person to ask is @A-Jay as he installed them a year ago(?) under his Lund Pro-V
  23. Skip the wood bunks all together. https://www.ultimatebunkboards.com/
  24. Water that stained - unless you go to a super-bright color - color won't matter.
