Garmin Striker 7SV question...
Ya - the Striker Plus units might be heavily discounted as the new Striker Vivid units are due out in a week or two. I may wait and get one of those instead of a Plus. https://www.thefishingwire.com/releases/0137f5dc-bab8-4741-9bd9-c6dc4075b8ba I'm also seriously considering putting out the cash for a 7 - advantage over the 5 is that you can download maps from the Quickdraw community - and all the lakes in my area that I fish are there.

I can't even....
I've seen those before by other vendors. Cute, but probably not too productive.

I'll check those out - thanks, man.

Looking at a new reel Can't find much info on it
I've been very happy with my Pflueger Trion reels...another option in the low price category.

Carpet on trailer bunks: do you really need it?
Look like the same ones I put on my canoe trailer. I like that they're not 'solid'...allows you to sink the screws below the level of the hull without counter-sinking and there's less contact with the hull as well.

Question for the group-mind. I know Garmin is listed as 'Excluded' from discounts at TW - BUT has anyone ordered a Garmin during the Black Friday sale and gotten the 20% off? Got my check from the parents already, and it was a bit more than previous year...so looking to get an Echomap CV to replace the Hook 2-4.

How often do you change your braided line and why?
I keep a couple empty source-spools. Take the line off the reel to one, move it to the second, re-spool.

That ALWAYS works....
I was a Guinness man until being introduced to Murphys...now that's the only brew I drink.

I quite fishing over 15 years ago!
I was just saying I have a couple 3-Trays - one looks identical to the one in that pic.

Garmin Striker 7SV question...
Get a bigger trolling motor? Downgrade to a 73CV and stick with just Chirp and Down Image? I'm looking at a 63CV unit for my canoe...I can hit 5mph - with a backwind...plus 'budget'.

Ya - I've got a couple of the 3-Tray Plano boxes still as well. Those and the hip-roof are gathering dust and cobwebs now.

Garmin Striker 7SV question...
Ya - side imaging works best when on the move. Down and Chirp work fairly well when still...but still not ideal. You'd have to go to Panoptix or ActiveImaging (gets expensive) to have the ability to 'see' the bottom well while anchored/lock-spotted.

Ya - I kept my worms in the bags as you can see. Still have it too...down in the basement Wanna buy it off me?

I quite fishing over 15 years ago!
Can't stress this enough I returned to fishing after a 20 year hiatus - started with what I had in my basement. Two 40 year old spinning rigs and a 35 year old BC rig plus the contents of a Plano Hip-roof box Yep - that's all I had Now - I have a modified canoe, 10 'new' rigs, and 3 tackle-bags of 'stuff' - build slowly as you gain knowledge and experience...no need to drop a few thousand the first year.

Berkley Big Game Braid
Other than their plastics, I am too - but it is kind of funny. I use Stren Mono I have Mitchell and Pflueger reels Lots of people toot about Abu Fenwick is also a fave All owned by Pure Fishing. Why is one brand of the parent corp so 'reviled' while the others are cheered?

Waking up super early is easily the worst part of fishing for me.
I got no choice in the matter. The days we can get a respite worker to come watch the wife - my fishing time is from 8:30 or 9am to 1pm or 1:30pm...that includes travel, launch, land, return time...so maybe 3-3.5 hours on the water And that's once a week max - if the weather is crappy for the canoe the day the respite worker can come...or something comes up and she can't make that week - I don't go This year, I got the canoe out 6 times total over the 6 month season (early-April to end-Sept.) due to Covid interference on top of the weather/other issues.

Garmin Striker 7SV question...
It should have the proper transducer included - the GT-52 is the SV transducer, the GT-20 is the DV transducer...long as yours includes the GT-52, you're good to go.

How often do you change your braided line and why?
I can attest that it DOES help YZH. 10# on my Trion-30 and 12# on two of my BCs became limper with less memory. Dunno if it helped the mono, but I used it there anyway. I'm sold on it's effectiveness.

How often do you change your braided line and why?
I use KVD - but only on my mono and hybrid lines...I don't use FC. I haven't had any problems with line-tangle with my braid...yet. Maybe if I do, I'll give the KVD a shot at it.

How often do you change your braided line and why?
I've used both original Power Pro and Sufix 832. The PP is going into it's 3rd year next spring, the 832 will be on it's second year. I only change out if it gets low...and since I use leaders now, it takes a LONG time for that to happen. By 'lube', do you mean KVD, Reel Snot or something similar? I don't use line treatment on braid...just because.

Buying ultralight gear?
Where-as I sold my UL rig to a neighbor...just too light for the fishing I do. Looking at Light for my super-finesse presentations.
