  1. I toss jerks from my canoe, usually from a seated position. I have both a BC and a Spinning rig I toss them with. The spinning rig is a Trion-30 loaded with 10# Stren Original on a 6'6" M/F Diawa Aird-X . My motion for working the jerks is mainly to the side with a bit of downward direction - one sweep towards 4-o'clock, the next towards 8-o'clock - rod parallel to the water at the start of the sweep.
  2. Personally - if you're putting the dogs in the back - go with the Z or CX Evolve so you can get air-flow back there. I've been a Leer fan since my first truck.
  3. Every year BPS/Cabelas sales are more about their own label than anything else. I'm about to remove myself from their mail-list...only thing I've found worth buying the last couple years was the BPS Extreme Qualifier and the Cabelas Advanced Angler II tackle bags...I have one of each.
  4. To all those here who served (yes, me too), thank you for your contribution to keeping our country safe.
  5. Dunno if the Stradic will be on sale at TW - but they offer a 10% military discount year-round. I sent a copy of my DD-214 (USAF 1980-1984) in two years ago and they've honored it on every order except special sales. "Military Discount Tackle Warehouse is honored to be able to provide our U.S. military service men and women with a 10% discount on all orders. We will ask that a current, valid military ID be sent or a copy of your DD214 if you are no longer serving, for verification purposes (please blackout or 'redact' any sensitive information as needed)."
  6. Well, we already had rattlesnakes...why NOT gators too?
  7. There's not a huge difference between those - it's kind of like degrees...though I'd personally lean towards the Ms side than the Mf side.
  8. If you're going with a moderate action rod, that suggests to me treble lures - crank and jerkbaits mainly. So I'd go with a 6-ratio reel My crank-rig is a Diawa Fuego CT in 6.3:1 on a Dobyns Fury 705CB MH/M
  9. Ya - one of my Trions is on a M/F Aird-X - the other on an Okuma Stratus VI (DSG special) MH/M that I got for $50.
  10. Hope you like fishing with 'budget' gear. Two Mitchell RZT, two Trion and one President - spinning reels are half my arsenal...best rod in that group is a Fury - rest are $50 and less rods.
  11. Fine - I've lost all but one rig and I'm limited to that. MH/F - 3/8oz swim Jig in some green variant, bulky trailer also in a green variant - I've caught more bass on that setup than any other rig. (still think it's silly to say 'one lure to rule them all'.) In reality - also given the 'out of food' gif....I'd go with my Avocet ML rig, bobber and worm - hunt panfish.
  12. I'm not trying to be cute here - I'm being realistic for my situation. If I flipped - I'd only LOSE one rig - one's I'm not using at the moment are leashed in the rack.
  13. 10 rigs on the canoe - I'll have 10 different things tied on to start with.
  14. I've been in the reverse situation. Nothing I tried with a spinner got even a chase...size, color, trailer...nothing made a bit of difference. Tied on a swim jig and suddenly I'm getting hit...in the same locations a spinner struck out on. Another time it was a chatter they wanted...after trying spinner and swim jig with nothing happening. I stand by my position that there is no one lure that works all the time...based on experience
  15. If there was such a thing for my waters - then I wouldn't need 3 tackle bags worth of lures/plastics Exactly - temp, depth, time of year, weather - any little difference can change what the bass will chase.

Because it takes a lot of the yellow stuff to buy? I'm stuck on regular ProLatch - not even the Rustrictor - because...money.
  17. Ya, if they're charging over $150 for a reel - least they can do is give it an aluminum frame.
  18. Depends on how deep I want to run them. If it's shallows, I'll run 1/4oz...but most of my chatter work is with 3/8oz.
  19. Ummm https://www.lexico.com/definition/monohull monohull Pronunciation /ˈmɒnə(ʊ)hʌl/ Translate monohull into Spanish noun A boat with only one hull, as opposed to a catamaran or multihull. @A-Jay - as a retired USCG veteran...can you enlighten us?
  20. Ya - I just looked up your current boat. Max rated to 3.5HP. Put a 6HP on there and you're just looking for trouble.
  21. Problem is - if you get pulled over by the water patrol and the motor on your boat exceeds the USGC tag...you can be fined as well as other punishments. Removing the tag doesn't help as you'll get fined for not having it on the boat.
  22. Nuke it from orbit - it's the only way to be sure.
  23. Once you hit your monthly data limit - if you have one (I'm on the 4gb plan), then yes...they throttle down - my 5g goes to 3g. Unlimited plan - you might see a slowdown during peak usage times...but they don't throttle based on your usage far as I know. I keep going back to ATT because I get reception in places that Sprint, Verizon and others had dead-spots.
  24. Any day works for me - but it'd have to be afternoon/evenings Central Time.
