  1. I've never used a snell, haven't seen the need for it.
  2. Which lake and where are the pics?
  3. Question 1: Baitcaster or Spinning? Question 2: Did you secure the end of the line to the spool with an Arbor Knot or some other way? Question 3: When spooling the line, did you align the source with the reel-spool so that it goes on the spool the same way it comes off the source?

How do actresses and stuntwomen pass the time during the lockdown? Have a little fun.
  5. It's a little stringy though...
  6. More personal preference. Lots of people use it successfully, I just didn't care for how it handled. I went with Yo-Zuri Hybrid where others use FC - leaders or as mainline.
  7. There's been guys who've really tricked out a 119 and turned them into mean fishing machines. Do a YouTube search on 'Canoe mods' and a lot of what people have done to other models can be done here. Not to toot my own horn, but I've done extensive mods to my Sun Dolphin 14' Square-Stern - some of those would also be adaptable to the 119.
  8. I skip the hot water treatment and just spray KVD Line and Lure conditioner on it. Once when spooling up - a good drenching, let it dry before spooling - then a few spritzes the night before going out. I do this with mono and Yo-Zuri Hybrid...don't use FC...and I don't have issues with my line.
  9. I was gonna say this as well - thanks Paul. Maybe if these incidents were more widely reported, more people would actually WEAR their PFDs...then maybe we wouldn't lose so many people due to what amounts to stupidity.
  10. Shallow/stained water like that - I'd toss my Bluegill or Craw colored 3/8oz or the Bluegill 1/4oz with a matching/close colored trailer - paddletail, beaver type, craw or curly-tail...all are options for trailers. Buzz it near the surface, run it about mid-depth or vary the retrieve...make it 'bounce' through the column. If there's submerged weeds, run it right across the tops of those too. Quite a few choices.
  11. Is he using a different color? What trailer are each of you using? Depth it's running at, speed? Various factors can come into using spinnerbaits - it's not just a 'toss and retrieve' lure, there's subtleties that go into it as well.
  12. Not much further west of there is Lake Auburn in the Carver Park Reserve...state record Largemouth at 8#15oz was caught there back in 2005, and a Fishidy report has an 8#5oz being caught in 2017...so it has some big ones.
  13. If I have to replace trebles on any lure - Owner ST is what I use.
  14. I start with a 6' leader, when it hits 2'-3' it gets replaced.
  15. Maybe a quick wipe of the rod/reel to prevent water-spots for appearance only. Modern plastics and aluminum won't corrode because of some fresh water on them. (Shrugs) I leave lures on if I plan on using them again next trip...which for me is a week - I go once a week. Only thing I'd remove is any soft plastics (worms, craws, etc) that you have on the lure...those can cause issues with the lure itself.
  16. That's for certain - Rapala has quite a few lines that have Live Pumpkinseed as a color option. I have a DT-6 and Shad Rap 07 in that color.
  17. There should be an instruction sheet or manual in there somewhere.
  18. That's right on target far as I'm concerned. My cranking rod is a Dobyns Fury 705CB - 7'0" Medium-Heavy/Moderate with a Diawa Fuego CT-H (6.3:1) reel.
  19. This applies to all my Rapala cranks - not just the DT-6. Best luck has been with the 'natural' patterns - bluegill, perch, baby bass, etc. Colors that match or are close to the natural forage in the lake I fish.
  20. Depends - are you tossing the buzzbaits into heavy cover - weeds, lilypads, etc - or running them over the top of submerged weeds? I don't cast buzz/chatters into heavy slop, so I'm fine with 12# Yo-Zuri for those techniques. I only use heavy braid (50#) when I'm pitching/bubba-shotting into heavy weeds.
  21. I was initially going for Cygnus X-1, but Sag-A is probably a better example of how deep that hole can get.
  22. Not all of them - I stopped in at my local DSG before the shutdowns to grab a cheap MH/M spinning rod and they actually had expanded the fishing section a bit. So it depends on the market. If they're open. Here in MN, they're closed to shoppers but you can order online and get curbside pickup for items in stock at that store.
  23. Jerkbaits I use mono - Stren Original 10# test. Swimbaits - I haven't dived into that rabbit-hole yet.
  24. It's my third one in three years - most comfortable one I've had. Two large pockets and two clip-bases. Have my small pliers on a retractable 'badge holder' on the left side (seen partially behind my left hand), line cutter rigged the same on the right. PFD goes on before I climb into the canoe, doesn't come off until I beach it.
  25. From the article: “They had life jackets in the boat, they didn't use the life-jackets,” the witnesses said. Did it to themselves. A tragedy...totally preventable if they used a bit of common sense.
