  1. I was half asleep yesterday. You're right of course. UL rig - 4# Yo-Zuri to the Ned; ML rig - 6# Elite to the Ned...I was confuzled.
  2. Usually, my Ned work is done with my Ultra-Light rig - 4# Yo-Zuri hybrid to the VMC spin-shot hook, 6# Suffix Elite from the hook to the weight. If I do use my ML rig - that's 6# Suffix Elite to the spin-shot, 6# Suffix Elite from hook to weight.
  3. Ya, but then she'd be all over you saying that she's gotta 'fix' you. (snort)
  4. I just stick with two lengths - 6'6" and 7'0". Working from mostly a seated position in my canoe, any longer would be unwieldy and shorter rods, IMO, don't have quite the action I like. And that's from experience with 5'6" and 6'0" rods.
  5. Just pay attention to the regs - like MN, Iowa limits the number of lures/hooks on a single line. "When fishing by hook-and-line, you cannot use more than two lines or more than two hooks on each line when still fishing or trolling." Which means only two of the arms of an A-Rig can have hooks on them, the rest would have to be hookless. https://www.iowadnr.gov/portals/idnr/uploads/fish/regs_fish.pdf
  6. What ever they can catch. I'd try both.
  7. 7' MH rods here for spinners as well. Have two, but usually only have one rigged - the other is usually rigged with a jig.
  8. Think if it as a cross between drop-shot and punching. Drop-shot into heavy weeds...heavier weight, larger hook and plastic.
  9. I think he's talking the registration number. Look at my canoe - reg number is done with vinyl decals while the state tag is a sticker. Our registration is on a three-year cycle. Quite a few people here paint their reg number on the boat.
  10. I just get a big spool of 10# Berkley Big Game and use that as backing no matter what line I put on top of it. 50# or 30# braid, 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid or 10# mono...the backing doesn't have to match the top line as under normal use you'll never get that far into the spool. If you do reach the knot where the backing attaches to the main line, cut at the knot and re-spool new main line.
  11. A 6.3:1 ratio to me means crankbait or bottom contact. I don't use flouro, but if I did, 12#-14# and either fill the reel or half-fill with some cheap mono (Berkley Big Game is what I use for backing) and the rest with the flouro.
  12. I dunno if there are any moms LadiMopar pops in now and then - so there's at least one gal who's a regular. Dunno if she's a mom though.
  13. Which is why all my boxes have several packets of desiccant in them. At under $9 for 100 2gm packets...it's cheap insurance.
  14. As I suggested in the other thread he started on the same subject...
  15. My 7' Heavy/Fast is used for pitching, flipping, frogs, bubba-shot and larger topwaters (Super Spook, WP-110, etc)
  16. It's never going to be the same - best suggestion is to replace the entire guide.
  17. My jerkbait spinning reel is a Trion-30...pretty close to a 2500 size, last year it was also my smaller crank-rig and light T-Rig setup. I think a 2500 size will be fine for those.
  18. It's all in the handle Spinning rod (Fury 703SF) Casting Rod (Fury 703C) Notice the lack of a 'trigger' in the spinning rod. Also, the reel seat goes into the cork part of the handle as opposed to the casting rod where the seat is completely in front of the cork. The trigger is the key though. In 50+ years of fishing, I've never seen a spinning rod with a trigger.
  19. With the trigger - sure looks like a BC rod to me. http://dobynsrods.com/rod/fr-795sb/
  20. The Dobyns SB rods are baitcasters.
  21. Mono, Hybrid, Braid - same knot for all terminal connections...number of winds change based on line type/test strength.
  22. A good 80%+ of all my gear was bought online - even my canoe was purchased through Amazon.
  23. Checked Sportsman's Warehouse - closest to you is Las Cruces, NM - they have one in stock for $529 It'd take a road trip...
  24. Well....darn it all. It is a 'different country' after all.
  25. Sun Dolphin Sportsman 8 - on sale at BPS for $499. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/sun-dolphin-sportsman-2-person-boat
