  1. Same here - been about 15 years since I've 'gone down' - certified back in '77. I dove local lakes, but the visibility in most was such that you almost had to be right on top of the fish to see them. Modern electronics is a much easier method to find fish. Now if you want to inspect the bottom in various spots - even snorkeling can do that...I've done 15'-20' dives that way. Not much time on the bottom of course, but you can at least get a look.
  2. We're both right 5/16 is a standard fishing weight measurement and is .3125 1/3 isn't seen often in fishing and is .3333 .32 splits the difference between them.
  3. I don't know about the others, but the KingPin is super-easy to pull out. I have that on my canoe seat...one good yank and it comes free.
  4. The only problem I see is the weight - .32 is about 5/16 so it'd have to be a heck-of-a floating lure to hold that on the surface.
  5. Bit under that price - Dobyns Fury 765Flip - 7'6", rated up to 2 oz - $119 Bit over that price - Dobyns Sierra 766Flip - 7'6", rated up to 2 oz - $179

  7. 1: Try more than one technique in a given spot - the area I'm casting may LOOK like spinner territory, but I have to be willing to try a jig or t-rig 2: Pay more attention to my sonar - if it says the larger fish are at 12'...don't toss lures that only get down to 6'-7' 3: Be willing to put more miles on the TM - the bass might not be hanging out within shouting distance of the launch. Actually - that describes almost all lagers (diehard Stout drinker)
  8. How can you live without coffee? I go through a pot a day.
  9. What I've found is that they over-pack the grease at least on the worm shaft...my Supreme came with the grease caked into the worm shaft enough that it was overflowing onto the level-wind tube. It was also a more viscous grease than I use. I haven't taken it apart to check the main gears yet, but if it's like the President I got last year...it needs a full clean/re-lube to function at it's best/
  10. Ya - I have a 702SF for finesse and a 705CB
  11. I picked up 2 Furys this year...haven't had them on the water, but 'bench-testing' looks real good.
  12. I'm all for budget equipment - get on sale, Amazon price breaks, gifts, etc. My most expensive rig 'retail' is the Fuego/Dobyns FR705cb. Retails for $230 - got the reel as a gift, got the rod during TW's Black Friday sale...my cost? $95 total.
  13. Three steps - Order, Suborder, Family, Genus (LMB and SMB are the same Genus) So 3rd cousins Same thing with Lemurs and Humans - same Order: Primate - so 3rd cousins again
  14. Distant cousins - as they and 'our' black bass are both of the Order: Perciformes - but the Family of the Lutjanus species is Lutjanidea where-as the Family of LMB and SMB are Centrarchidae
  15. I've still got a couple things from my Black Friday order at TW waiting to get back in stock.
  16. ^ This - every reel I buy gets a full service before I take it out on the water.
  17. Nope - Condensed and Expanded look identical to me.
  18. Ready for the list - there's a few I use Berkley Pit Boss Berkley Chigger Craw Eco Pro Swing Shad I also use these (among others) as trailers on spinner/chatter/buzzbait Normal rigging
  19. Where's yours? Mine is in my profile-pic...but here's a larger shot. Caught 31 July just before 8:30 AM on a 3/8oz Chartruese/Yellow, Colorado/Willow spinnerbait with a 3" Pumpkin-Green Flake Berkley Chigger Craw trailer. 3.94lb.
  20. I'm an old-fart. Have my 2 fingers of Tullamore Dew for New Years Eve probably around 10pm , lights out by 11pm - like every other night.
  21. Video of the bouncer at work - starts about the 50 second mark.
  22. Any body of water has some sort of current going - that'll get the spinner turning. Also, if there's some waves...even just ripples...the up and down motion caused with the bobber will get the spinner turning as well. As Vilas said - it's more a walleye rig than a bass rig.
  23. We got about 3" of packed snow yesterday on top of the ice resulting from the rain the days before. Shoveling and sanding done on the porch/sidewalk and the truck extracted from it's parking slot.
