  1. That's a great setup which you will enjoy tons! Personally I like 15 lb braid to an 8 or 10 lb leader.
  2. https://www.americanlegacyfishing.com/shimano-slx-casting-rod-reel-combo.html here ya go
  3. Get an Slx combo from ALF for $140, best bang for your buck within your budget. Keep in mind if you sign up for their newsletter you get an additional 10% off.
  4. I picked up a Levante Shakyhead as soon as they dropped and it's amazing! Keep in mind this is the nicest rod I have so I can not compare it to any of the similar rods at this price point.
  5. I quit watching television 3 years ago. Zero regrets!
  6. How do you think it compares to the chronarch Mgl and Curado DC when it comes to casting?
  7. That looks wayyyy better than I thought it would!
  8. I just tried one after reading this thread and it was ok, not my new favorite but it wasnt terrible.
  9. I agree, personally I'd grab a few of the Slx combos from Alf as they are great value and great quality too.
  10. I strongly dislike peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, instead what I do is I mix peanut butter and Lyles golden syrup then put it on the bread. Try it!
  11. A 3500 BG is a massive spinning reel for bass fishing, personally I'd stick with a 2500 size, it holds more than enough line and has plenty of drag too.
  12. I think you summed this up very nicely. I can relate to this in every way!
  13. My father got me started when I was really young but the only bait we knew how to use was a weightless senko. I taught myself everything else I now know, bassresource and tactical Bassin deserve a lot of credit there.
  14. Weightless fluke has been dynamite in small ponds here in northern Virginia, swim jigs and flipping jigs are doing great too.
  15. Update us on how you like it for frogs, I'm considering upgrading my frog rod this summer.
  16. The 7'2 heavy should work great for frogging and heavier jigs. I will likely pick one up later in the year.
  17. Have you checked out the Dobyns Fury 735? It should work fine for moderate cover flipping and frogging. Alf has a 15% off sale running right now on all dobyns rods too.
  18. If you're looking at the Slx I'd check out the Slx combo at American legacy fishing. Its $140 and if you sign up for their newsletter you can get it for $126 which is a heck of a deal if you dont already have a rod you want to put it on.
  19. So I took one of my friends fishing and he decided he wanted to throw a 130 size whopper popper. We were standing on a small 3 by 3 block of cement and he hit me in the arm with that whopper plopper and the one treble went deep into my arm. That wasn't the bad part, the bad part was that we tried to rip it out for 30 minutes. We both tried our hardest to get that hook out but it wasnt budging, I called my dad and he told me to push the hook out the other side and use bolt cutters to break off the barb, I should've gone that route to begin with. Would've saved a lot of time. Definetly a lesson I won't forget.
  20. I use mine for the same thing, it also doubles as a weightless plastic rod.
  21. Snakehead are a big bucket list fish for me. They just look super cool and I've heard the fight is amazing.
  22. Where do you guys find the flyer for the bass pro sale?
