  1. I'm not interested in a Daiwa vs Shimano thread no is anyone else. I've been a hardcore shimano guy but I'm thinking about branching out. This would go on the 7'3 MH Adrena. I'm interested in the comparisons between the two reels. Originally I posted the steez A but that's obviously not the comparable reel. I'm most interested in a Metanium style comparison in the daiwa lineup
  2. Does anybody have some time on the flip pitch model? I'm a big shimano guy but am considering this reel for my flipping and pitching setup. Mainly because I'll just straight braid mostly.
  3. Smackdown in 40-50lb for open water but starting to prefer power pro maxcuatro 50-65lb for fishing around heavy cover/grass. I do wish they kept making smackdown in dark greeb
  4. Do you run braid to leader on your smackdown ? If so what's the lightest leader you'd tie to 50lb?
  5. As the title says. Also do you prefer the denny b or the 3x?
  6. I was wondering this myself, especially for rage craw
  7. Which model of the mustad grip pin? How are they compared to the trokar tk130? Has anyone tried 6th senses new hooks?
  8. Does the rod balance well with a Metanium MGL? I also wonder if it's the met 16 mgl will the aluminum gear hold up to the kind of power the xh has.
  9. I too like the maxcuatro. I think it cuts through grass/slop much better than smackdown.
  10. Thank you. I also agree that smackdown's smoothness can cause problems. It's a lot of reason I've been using power pro max q lately.
  11. I like mine even though I've only used it once, just got it. It's arguably lighter in weight or even to an equal size/power nrx.
  12. Where are you in MI that doesn't have open water? The lakes in West Michigan have had open water for the better part of 30 days.
  13. I love braid and so far I absolutely hate straight fluorocarbon. After fishing braid for years straight fluorocarbon feels like a rubber band. Even fishing a vision 110 on 12lb tatus and the one ten special, every rip feels like a rubber band, I don't get it. So, usually I've been using 40lbish smackdown and tying a leader, anywhere from 10lb to 20lb. These leaders are typically sniper, tactical or the c 100 with an Alberto knot. I love the ability to switch the leader for the situation. The problem, sudden failures at the connection knot. Yesterday I lost a fire craw jackhammer on the first hang up in a log. 40lb smackdown to 16 lb fc100 on the Alberto knot. It wasn't even a hookset, just a mild sweep and gone. I check the knot by applying pressure with my hands up to the point the line would cut me. I cut the ends fairly short but never all the way. What gives?? Just my knot incompetence?
  14. Thank you, just trying to decide as you can get destroyers for a similar price
  15. Looking for some more info on these compared to items such as the nrx, glx, destroyers and similar rods. I'm looking at the 7'3 MH. Would you consider any destroyers or xxs to be on par? I'm really looking for a light, sensitive, versatile rods that can be used primarily for 3/8 & 1/2 ounce jackhammers (I don't prefer a soft rod due to heavy cover) and 1/2 Oz jigs, light Texas rigs, worms that feel a little overloaded on the nrx 893.
  16. I have not.
  17. Lethal weapon Iv swim jig! Once it warms a bit I'm going to toy with the few I added a queen tackle switch blade to(Chatterbait blade)
  18. Wait, the current Helium rods are north fork blanks ??? I noticed the helium 3 now only says helium
  19. Before Kistler adjusted their blank there were like a hundred reviews on this rod. I have one and am trying to find what others really used it for but now the reviews are for his new blank. I am wondering for those who have it, what do you love to throw on it? I have it paired with an aldebaran mgl so it feels like an ultra weight combo but I know the blank has a decent backbone.
  20. The gen 2 is completely different than the gen1
  21. I have the EMTF. Just my opinion but I wouldn't throw Texas rigs on it. Its pretty darn moderate.
  22. What type of cover are you fishing? I'm in with the brailist. The spec r is really nice but extremely light and feels overpowered if fishing around grass. My buddy tried to fish a weightless five & and six inch senko around grass and was way under powered. This was also not around big fish.
