  1. I'm about to wet myself....That has got to be the funniest thing I have ever read.
  2. I use Joey Mines on West Point. He is amazing and a fun guy to deal with. www.joeymines.com He guides out of Highland marina and they have cabins to rent. On Logan Martin Reed Montgomery is without a dout the best around. He books up quickly so you might have problems getting him on short notice but he is good. I fish Neely Henry and Logan Martin so if you want to save the money for a guide and just want to hit the water sometime send me a pm and we can try to arrange that. Welcome back and thank you for your service.
  3. It should open this November. They already have started putting the walls up. I imagine I'll be broke shortly afterwards. Hell, I own my own business and I'm going to see about a part time job there just for the discount and to be around the atmosphere. Burley, I will be at the store in Memphis this weekend so if you need something I can pick it up for you. I haven't been on this forum long but my wife gets tickled because I refer to some of the regulars on here as "a guy I know" or "a buddy of mine", it is amazing how fast you get an impression of people when all you see is a few words that they have typed online. If you cover the shipping costs I'll get you whatever you need and have it on it's way to you. Only problem is I will not return home until Wednesday of next week so it will not ship until then.
  4. How is the quality of the hooks? Also It will be interesting to see how they run straight out of the box, what kind of depth they get and how durable they are. I have had my eye on these baits but have not even attempted to find any yet until someone else had put them to the test first. Keep us posted if you don't mind.
  5. Understood. I guess I was not thinking of it as a busines to advertise. I picture a guy in his little workshop out back tinkering when the weather is too nasty to be on the water. So maybe I underestimated the scale of how many people actually make their own and how it could be more than a hobby for some people. Oh well, it seemed like a good idea at the time.
  6. This is just an idea and I hope I am not violating any forum guidelines. If so please feel free to end the thread immediately and I will respect that decision. If this is in the wrong spot please also feel free to put it where you deem necessary. There seem to be a lot of people on here who make their own hard baits and tie their own jigs. I have no experience with either but would be very interested in possibly trying out a few of their end products. Could we possibly have another topic much like the "Flea Market" thread but where the only items listed must be handmade? I bet it would get a good response. I know I would love to see it. You might find that you could buy a better quality product from some of these guys on here for a cheaper price than what you would spend at a retailer for garbage.
  7. Wish I could help. They are opening one about 5 minutes from my house but not until November. Maybe next time. Meanwhile someone on here should live close enough to a BPS to help you out.
  8. Where were you able to order them from and how much did they set you back if you don't mind me asking. Awesome looking baits. Nice catch!
  9. I always have considered Rooster Tails good "farm pond" lures but never tried them on a larger body of water. I learned last year though that if you tie on a Hellbender then come off the back of the Hellbender with about 4 foot of line tied to a Rooster Tail and troll them at outboard idle speed you can load the boat. We have caught white bass, largemouths and numerous stripes this way.
  10. I bought 4 of them and while they are not close to the quality of some of the more expensive reels, they are very good quality for the money. I actually ordered one and like it well enough to order 3 more. I have them on 2 rods and I have 2 under the seat as back-up reels. If you want more than 1 you have to order them separately without signing into your BPS account and I had to wait until I had received one before ordering the next or BPS would cancel it as a duplicate order. You can order more than 1 through your account but be prepared to pay shipping if you do.
  11. homemade deer jerky, Coor's Light and Copenhagen.
  12. Thanks guys. Sorry I was out for the weekend so this is the first chance I have had to check the forum. FYI 2 big gobblers met their demise this weekend and I also found time to fish. Wore them out on a finesse worm and a frog. Not the turkey......The fish. ;D
  13. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!!!!
  14. The oldest rod I own that is still in good shape is a lightning rod. I have had it since I was about 17 years old. That makes that rod over 16 years old. It rides in the boat every time I do but rarely gets fished because it is only a 5' rod.
  15. Those red hooks are only pretty till the color starts coming off and then they look like garbage. As far as the red line disappearing, I don't know how things look through a bass's eyes but I do know how they look through mine. In a tank red is nearly completely invisible and it is a noticeable difference over other lines. As far as the red baits for the "bleeding" effect, it would seem to me that in order for a bass to recognize red as bleeding it would have to be able to reason. I think red is 90% gimmick and 10% maybe. But if it helps your confidence then you should use it.
  16. My intentions are to connect the snap to the split ring on the bait. Is this correct?
  17. Don't know for sure about wether they are compatible but I do know that Eagle and Cuda are the same. I would try to contact the company and get someone there that is in the know. If the pins are the same I would almost bet it will work. If you are planning to upgrade any way you don't have anything to lose by trying.
  18. I have never used Duolock snaps but after a recent thread I am ordering some from BPS. I need to know what size you guys recommend for use with 12-20 lb test on crankbaits. I assume I can use a palomar knot to tie on the snap. To be more specific I generally throw Bandit 200's or Strike King series 3 cranks if that helps. Any info you might have on the strength of these snaps would be helpful. It is just something I would like to try so maybe I can spend less time tying and more time fishing.
  19. I love the Netbait finesse worms. They float well so they get vertical on a shakey head rig. Netbait actually won me over because of a specific color. Blueberry Candy is a fish magnet around here. I have had some trouble finding that color so when I do I usually buy 10-20 bags. They have all but replaced my watermelon candy Zoom's and I swore my allegiance to Zoom years ago. The only downside I have found is that they are not as durable as the Zoom finesse worms but have you ever fished a soft plastic that would last through more than a couple of fish anyway?
  20. I usually clean 'em, grease' em and put 'em back in the rod locker in the boat. I figure that is where I'll be needing them next. Is that bad for them?
  21. A dead relative will sometimes get you 2 or more days.
  22. Most of the time people seem to be pretty courteous. On occasion someone will come zipping by too close and nearly throw you out of the boat or worse yet someone will jump in front of you on a bank you are fishing down. One thing that works wonders for those idiots that come screaming by you at high speed while you are fishing is to keep an old topwater lure without hooks tied on a rod that you aren't using. When you see them coming just throw out in front of them and cut the line. When all that line gets tangled in the prop you can laugh at them as you crank up and leave. It's the &$%^# jetskis that I hate.
  23. The bass here love Copenhagen. I always have to get a dip before the first cast of the day. I have been known to spit on a worm for luck.
  24. Where you fishin' Cooter? I live in Leeds so I'm just a few minutes from you. I usually fish Neely Henry but I have a membership at Sportsman's Lake. That's in your neck of the woods. Just holler when you want to go.
  25. I personally don't use a snap swivel with crankbaits but I have if I am fishing out of someone elses boat and an limited on the number of rods I can carry. I usually keep 3 rods in the locker with shallow, medium and deep cranks tied on and ready. I may be wrong but it seems to me that a snap swivel may effect the action of the lure. The main reason I don't use them is because I don't trust their strength. Call it paranoia, but it is a confidence issue for me.
